European markets closed lower amid high volatility brought by oil prices and corporate earnings. Dutch insurer Aegon, French lender Credit Agricole and online fashion retailer Zalando reported disappointing first-quarter earnings. Howeverm KBC Group, RWE, and Zurich Insurance exceeded expectations.
