- Microsoft Corp. surged 8.3% to $555.74 after the software company reported strong growth in revenue and earnings in the fiscal fourth quarter.
Revenue increased 17% to $76.4 billion from $64.7 billion, net income jumped 22% to $27.2 billion from $22 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose 24% to $3.65 from $2.95 a year ago.
For the fiscal year 2025, revenue advanced to $281.7 billion from $245.1 billion, net income soared to $101.8 billion from $88.1 billion, and diluted earnings per share edged higher to $13.64 from $11.80 a year ago.
During the fourth quarter Microsoft distributed $9.4 billion to its shareholders through dividends and share repurchase programs.
Microsoft estimated double-digit growth in revenue and net income in the next quarter.
“Cloud and AI are the driving forces of business transformation across every industry and sector," said Satya Nadella, chairman and chief executive officer of Microsoft.
“We’re innovating across the tech stack to help customers adapt and grow in this new era, and this year, Azure surpassed $75 billion in revenue, up 34 percent, driven by growth across all workloads.”

Revenue increased to $70.07 billion from $61.86 billion, net income jumped to $25.82 billion from $21.94 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $3.46 from $2.94 a year ago.
“We delivered a strong quarter with Microsoft Cloud revenue of $42.4 billion, up 20, and up 22% in constant currency, year-over-year, driven by continued demand for our differentiated offerings,” said Amy Hood, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Microsoft.
During the quarter, the company returned $9.7 billion to shareholders in the form of dividends and share repurchases.

Revenue in the cloud segment soared 20% to $25.9 billion, personal productivity and business segment jumped 13% to $19.2 billion, and personal computing segment increased 19% to $16.9 billion.
The company returned to shareholders $8.4 billion in the form of share repurchases and dividends in the second quarter of fiscal year 2024.

Revenue in the fiscal first quarter increased by 13% to $56.5 billion, net income surged by 27% to $22.3 billion, and diluted earnings per share soared to $2.99 from $2.35 a year ago.
Cloud services revenue rose 19% to $24.3 billion, office and business productivity software, including LinkedIn, rose 13% to $18.6 billion, and personal computing revenue, which includes Windows and Xbox content, inched up 3% to $13.7 billion.
Microsoft returned $9.1 billion to shareholders in the form of stock repurchases and dividends in the first quarter of fiscal 2024.
