Stocks in Tokyo surged and the Nikkei soared 7.7% in the week after the yen weakened and closed above 100 mark. Sony gained ahead of its launch of PlayStation 4 in the U.S. and Nintendo reported a surge in game console U.S. sales in October. Dai-Ichi first-half sales and earnings soared.

Australian markets and dollar eased and the three-way bidding for WCB heated up. Canadian dairy company Saputo lifted its unconditional offer to $9 a share for WCB. Freelancer Ltd vaulted as high as four-fold on its first day of trading.

U.S. indexes extended gains and S&P 500 index advanced to a record. For the year so far, the S&P 500 index is up 25.4%. European markets jumped 1% after investors surmised Federal Reserve to keep in place its large bond buying program. Starbucks agreed to pay $2.79 billion in damages to Kraft.
