Nikkei average in Japan closed nearly unchanged and investors focused on another batch of corporate earnings. Nomura said annual net rose 5% and revenues rose 4%. Ebara and Hoya jumped but Bridgestone, Takata and Taiyo Yuden declined on earnings.

Australian federal budget offered incentives for small businesses and capital investments and softened unemployment burden for youth. In cautious approach, the government estimated annual iron ore price at $48 a ton and coal price at $90 a ton. Qantas surged after reporting a drop in fuel costs.

Market indexes in volatile trading dropped and rupee dropped to a 2015-low. Apollo Tyres said net in the quarter rose 9% but revenues slipped 4%. Dr.Reddy''s Lab net jumped 8% on 10% increase in revenues. Union Bank net in the quarter slipped 23%.

On Merger Monday market indexes trended lower and European markets closed down. Crude oil and gold turned lower. Greece said it is set to release payment due to the IMF tomorrow. Shanghai index surged 3% after China lowered rate for the third time in six months.

Stocks on Wall Street jumped more than 1% after April jobless rate fell to 5.4% and net monthly new jobs increased by 223,000 from revised 85,000 in March. Indexes in Europe jumped also after Prime Minister David Cameron led Conservative Party won a slim but outright majority in the U.K. elections.
