The parent of IndiGo airline said its public offering was fully subscribed on the second day of sale. Dabur India said quarterly profit jumped 19%. Sun TV profit soared 41% on 12% increases in revenues. Thermax profit declined 25%. Bharat Bijlee net swung to profit.

Australian Dollar Drops 1% on Softer Third-Quarter Inflation

Australian dollar declined 1% after the third-quarter inflation slowed to 0.5% from the second-quarter and annual inflation rate was 1.5%. Core inflation that excludes volatile food and energy prices also was lower than expected knocking all hopes of a rate hike in the near term.

Indexes on Wall Street remained in consolidation phase as more companies announce earnings. Durable spending declined for the second month in a row in September, raising the prospect of a sharp slowdown in the U.S. economic growth. Walgreens agreed to acquire Rite Aid for $9.4 billion in cash.

Australian market indexes closed down in thin trading and energy and resource stocks led the decliners. Harvey Norman said quarterly sales increased 6.1%. Beach Energy said quarterly sales declined 15%.

Nikkei average in Tokyo closed at a 2-month high after China lowered its rate in a surprise move and ECB offered to do more to support lending. The moves by two central banks stoked speculation of additional stimulus steps from the Bank of Japan. Hitachi and Panasonic surged on stronger earnings.
