Staples, Inc led the decliners in the S&P 500 index with a loss of 7.5% followed by losses in CF Industries Holdings, Inc of 5.1% and in Office Depot, Inc of 2.2%, in Kimberly-Clark Corporation of 1.9% and in American International Group, Inc of 1.5%.
Qualcomm Incorporated led gainers in the S&P 500 index with a rise of 3.3% followed by gains in Advanced Micro Devices, Inc 2.9%, in Patterson Companies, Inc of 2.7% and in Dell Inc 2.2%.

Allis-Chalmers Energy Inc ((ALY)) rose 3.4% or 13 cents to $3.91 an oilfield services company reported fourth quarter revenues fell 29% to $128.6 million from $181.4 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $9.5 million or 13 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $70.4 million or $2.00 per share a year ago.
Amerisafe, Inc ((AMSF)) added 1.7% or 31 cents to $17.75 an insurance company said fourth quarter revenues were flat at $64.0 million. Net income in the quarter fell 0.3% to $5.72 million or 28 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $5.74 million or 28 cents per share a year ago.
ATS Medical, Inc ((ATSI)) closed unchanged at $2.64 after the heart surgery product maker said fourth quarter sales rose 4% to $18.7 million from $18.0 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $3.5 million or 5 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $8.5 million or 13 cents per share a year ago.
Bank of Montreal ((BMO)) rose 0.1% or 10 cents to $54.48 after the bank reported first quarter net interest income rose 15% to $1.53 billion from $1.33 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 192% to $657 million or $1.12 per diluted share compared to net income of $225 million or 39 cents per share a year ago.
Bridgepoint Education, Inc ((BPI)) gained 5.3% or 97 cents to $18.96 after the for-profit provider of college classes announced revenue increased 90.6% to $131.8 million from $69.1 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter increased 246.7% to $19.6 million compared with net income of $5.7 million a year ago.
CMS Energy Corporation ((CMS)) fell 0.5% or 9 cents to $15.29 after it said fourth quarter revenues fell 12.5% to $1.61 billion from $1.84 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 90% to $6 million or 2 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $60 million or 26 cents per share a year ago.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company ((CTB)) advanced 2.6% or 48 cents to $18.31 after the manufacturer of replacement tires reported fourth quarter sales rose 21.6% to $773.1 million from $635.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $39.2 million or 63 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $143.5 million or $2.44 per share a year ago.
CVR Energy, Inc ((CVI)) advanced 5.0% or 41 cents to $8.60 an oil refiner and fertilizer maker said fourth quarter sales rose 32% to $921.9 million from $699.7 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 14.4% to $9.5 million or 11 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $11.1 million or 13 cents per share a year ago.
Dell Inc ((DELL)) advanced 2.2% or 31 cents to $13.88 after the personal-computer maker was upgraded to “buy” from “neutral” at UBS AG.

Domino’s Pizza, Inc ((DPZ)) increased 4.4% or 56 cents to $13.30 after the pizza delivery company reported fourth quarter revenues rose 8% to $462.9 million from $428.2 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 114.5% to $23.6 million or 41 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $11.0 million or 19 cents per share a year ago.
Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc ((FDP)) fell 0.5% or 10 cents to $19.75 after the fruit and vegetable producer reported fourth quarter sales rose 5% to $872.1 million from $831.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 23% to $28.2 million or 44 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $22.9 million or 36 cents per share a year ago.
Hercules Offshore, Inc ((HERO)) rose 2.2% or 9 cents to $4.09 after the provider of shallow-water drilling and marine services reported fourth quarter revenues fell 43.7% to $176.4 million from $313.5 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $26.5 million or 23 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $1.14 billion or $12.91 per share a year ago.
Hypercom Corporation ((HYC)) climbed 3.8% or 14 cents to $3.74 after the payment technology provider said fourth quarter revenues fell 2.6% to $117.4 million from $120.5 million a year ago. Luxottica Group S.p.A ((LUX)) fell 3.4% or 92 cents to $25.68 after the manufacturer and distributor of fashion, luxury and sports eyewear said fourth quarter sales fell 6.4% to €1.16 billion from €1.24 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 8.2% to €35.6 million or €0.8 per ADS compared to net income of €38.8 million or €0.8 per ADS a year ago.
McDermott International, Inc ((MDR)) dropped 2.6% or 62 cents to $23.82 an energy infrastructure company said fourth quarter revenues fell 12% to $1.46 billion from $1.66 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 129.5% to $98.7 million or 42 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $43.0 million or 19 cents per share a year ago.
Regal Entertainment Group ((RGC)) added 2.5% or 37 cents to $14.98 after movie-theater owner was upgraded to “outperform” from “market perform” at BMO Capital Markets.
