Of the stocks in S&P 500 index, 229 increased, 263 declined and 8 were unchanged.

Eastman Kodak Company led the decliners in the S&P 500 index with a loss of 7.1% followed by losses in Dean Foods Company of 7.1%, in Baker Hughes Incorporated of 5.4%, in HCP, Inc of 4.6% and in BMC Software, Inc of 4.6%.

Whole Foods Market, Inc led gainers in the S&P 500 index with a rise of 19.6% followed by gains in Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation 6.2%, in Genworth Financial, Inc of 5.3% and Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc of 5.1%.

American Capital Ltd ((ACAS)) fell 17.5% or 64 cents to $2.97 after the manager of private equity, real estate and other investments said net operating income for the quarter was $20 million or 9 cents per diluted share. For the quarter ended June 30, 2009, the company reported a net loss of $547 million or $2.52 per diluted share.

Agrium Inc ((AGU)) rose 4.5% or $2.13 to $49.23 after the commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company reported second quarter sales rose 5% to $4.1 billion from $3.9 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 42% to $370 million or $2.35 per diluted share compared to net income of $636 million or $4.00 per share a year ago.

BMC Software, Inc ((BMC)) fell 0.8% or 28 cents to $34.31 after the business software maker said first quarter revenues rose 3% to $450 million from $437.5 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $82.4 million or 44 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $1.2 million or 1 cent per share a year ago.

The Boston Beer Company, Inc ((SAM)) decreased 0.4% or 16 cents to $32.37 after the maker of Samuel Adams beer said second quarter revenues rose 0.6% to $118.1 million from $117.4 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 40% to $11.9 million or 83 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $8.5 million or 60 cents per share a year ago.

Bowne & Co., Inc ((BNE)) declined 3.6% or 31 cents to $8.09 after the shareholder and marketing communications services provider said second quarter revenues fell 20% to $189 million from $237 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $3.8 million or 13 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $1.3 million or 4 cents per share a year ago.

Boyd Gaming Corporation ((BYD)) jumped 2.3% or 24 cents to $10.18 after the multi-jurisdictional gaming company reported second quarter revenues fell 8% to $423 million from $460.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 41% to $12.8 million or 15 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $21.7 million or 25 cents per share a year ago.

Calumet Specialty Product Partners, L.P ((CLMT)) fell 12.3% or $2.09 to $15.04 an oil refiner reported second quarter sales fell 34% to $444 million from $671.2 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $26.0 million or 79 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $41.8 million or $1.27 per share a year ago.

Cogent, In ((COGT)) dropped 2.3% or 27 cents to $11.31 after the global biometric identification solutions provider said second quarter revenues rose 22% to $31.8 million from $26.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 18% to $8.5 million or 9 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $7.2 million or 8 cents per share a year ago.

Coherent, Inc ((COHR)) fell 0.5% or 10 cents to $19.85 after the supplier of photonics-based solutions said second quarter revenues fell 37.3% to $98.5 million from $157 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $7.0 million or 29 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $8.4 million or 35 cents per share a year ago.

Ctrip.com International, Ltd ((CTRP)) decreased 0.2% or 16 cents to $54.67 after the travel service provider said second quarter revenues rose 27% to Rmb 476.3 million from Rmb 375 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 33% to Rmb 159 million or Rmb 2.27 per ADS compared to net income of Rmb 119.3 million or Rmb 1.72 per ADS a year ago.

Denny’s Corporation ((DENN)) gained 1.6% or 4 cents to $2.54 after the family-style restaurant chain said second quarter revenues fell 18% to $155.8 million from $190.3 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 190.6% to $9.3 million or 9 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $3.2 million or 3 cents per share a year ago.

Dean Foods Company ((DF)) fell 8.4% or $1.81 to $19.53 after the food and beverage company reported second quarter sales fell 14% to $2.68 billion from $3.1 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 31% to $64.1 million or 38 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $48.9 million or 31 cents per share a year ago.

Dolan Media Company ((DM)) rose 5.0% or 66 cents to $13.80 after the provider of business information and professional services said second quarter revenues rose 61.3% to $67 million from $41.5 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 86.4% to $8.2 million or 27 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $4.4 million or 17 cents per share a year ago.

Douglas Emmett, Inc ((DEI)) added 9.4% or 99 cents to $11.44 after the real estate investment trust second quarter revenues fell 10% to $139.8 million from $155.1 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $7.5 million or 6 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $9.4 million or 8 cents per share a year ago.

Electronic Arts Inc ((ERTS)) advanced 1.5% or 34 cents to $21.89 after the videogame publisher said first quarter revenues fell 20% to $644 million from $804 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $234 million or 72 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $95 million or 30 cents per share a year ago.

Foster Wheeler AG ((FWLT)) surged 13.7% or $3.31 to $27.40 after the engineering and construction contractor reported second quarter revenues fell 23% to $1.31 billion from $1.70 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 24% to $122.2 million or 96 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $160.8 million or $1.11 per share a year ago.

Hansen Medical, Inc ((HNSN)) surged 3.0% or 12 cents to $4.04 after the developer of robotic technology said second quarter revenues fell 43% to $3.3 million from $5.8 million a year ago. H&E Equipment Services, Inc ((HEES)) slipped 8.6% or 95 cents to $10.03 an equipment services company reported second quarter revenues fell 36% to $180.2 million from $282.6 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 98% to $0.3 million or 1 cent per diluted share compared to net income of $16.1 million or 45 cents per share a year ago.

Imperial Sugar Company ((IPSU)) added 6.7% or 90 cents to $14.25 after the processors and marketers of refined sugar reported third quarter sales rose 33% to $142.3 million from $106.9 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $10.5 million or 89 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $12.5 million or $1.07 per share a year ago.

International Flavors & Fragrances Inc ((IFF)) fell 2.6% or 98 cents to $35.44 after the global creator of flavors and fragrances for consumer products reported second quarter revenues fell 11% to $568.3 million from $636 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 28.4% to $48 million or 60 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $67 million or 83 cents per share a year ago.

Kraft Foods Inc ((KFT)) increased 0.5% or 14 cents to $28.34 after the food service business said second quarter revenues fell 5.9% to $10.16 billion from $10.80 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 11% to $827 million or 56 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $745 million or 49 cents per share a year ago.

Liberty Global, Inc ((LBTYA)) gained 2.0% or 38 cents to $21.38 an international communications provider business said second quarter revenues fell 2.2% to $2.65 billion from $2.71 billion a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $93.1 million or 34 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $428 million or $1.11 per share a year ago.

Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc ((MMC)) rose 5.2% or $1.12 to $22.62 after the insurance broker and consulting firm reported second quarter revenues fell 13% to $2.63 billion from $3.03 billion a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $193 million or 37 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $65 million or 12 cents per share a year ago.

NxStage Medical, Inc ((NXTM)) declined 0.9% or 5 cents to $5.49 after the medical device company reported second quarter revenues rose 15% to $36.4 million from $31.6 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $12.5 million or 27 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $12.5 million or 32 cents per share a year ago.

Orbitz Worldwide, Inc ((OWW)) soared 26.5% or 99 cents to $4.72 after the global online travel company reported second quarter revenues fell 18.6% to $188 million from $231 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $10 million or 12 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $5 million or 6 cents per share a year ago.

Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc ((OSG)) rose 5.4% or $1.95 to $37.43 after the provider of energy transportation services reported second quarter revenues fell 34% to $282.7 million from $428.2 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $8.8 million or 33 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $86.9 million or $2.81 per share a year ago.

Owens Corning ((OC)) added 8.6% or $1.66 to $20.92 after the building materials maker reported second quarter sales fell 25% to $1.2 billion from $1.6 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 19.5% to $33 million or 26 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $41 million or 32 cents per share a year ago.

Papa John’s International, Inc ((PZZA)) lost 0.2% or 7 cents to $25.46 after the pizza chain said second quarter revenues fell 2.4% to $276.6 million from $283.4 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 87% to $14.2 million or 51 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $7.6 million or 27 cents per share a year ago.

The Procter & Gamble Company ((PG)) fell 3.7% or $2.08 to $53.38 after the consumer products maker reported fourth quarter revenues fell 11% to $18.7 billion from $20.9 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 18% to $2.5 billion or 80 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $3 billion or 92 cents per share a year ago.

Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation ((RL)) jumped 4.1% or $2.65 to $66.44 after the clothing retailer reported first quarter revenues fell 8% to $1.02 billion from $1.11 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 19% to $76.8 million or 76 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $95.2 million or 93 cents per share a year ago.

Radian Group Inc ((RDN)) surged 49.3% or $1.78 to $5.45 after the credit enhancement company reported second quarter revenues rose 58% to $577.4 million from $365.5 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $231.9 million or $2.82 per diluted share compared to net loss of $392.5 million or $4.91 per share a year ago.

RBC Bearings Incorporated ((ROLL)) slipped 8.2% or $2.00 to $22.15 after the ball bearings maker reported first quarter sales fell 31% to $63.7 million from $92.4 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 52.3% to $5.1 million or 23 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $10.7 million or 49 cents per share a year ago.

Ternium S.A ((TX)) rose 3.4% or 74 cents to $22.26 after the steelmakers said second quarter revenues fell 51.7% to $1.14 billion from $2.36 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 35.4% to $562.8 million or $2.81 per ADS compared to net income of $415.6 million or $2.07 per ADS a year ago.

Tessera Technologies, Inc ((TSRA)) jumped 6.4% or $1.85 to $30.40 after the chip technology developer said second quarter revenues rose 11% to $62.3 million from $56.3 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $11.8 million or 24 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $84,000 or break even per share a year ago.

Whole Foods Market, Inc ((WFMI)) rose 19.3% or $4.88 to $29.72 after the natural-food grocer third quarter sales increased 2% to $1.9 billion. Comparable store sales decreased 2.5% versus a 2.6% increase in the prior year.

Sales in the quarter increased to $1.87 billion compared to $1.84 billion a year ago. net income in the quarter increased to $42.8 million or 25 cents a share compared to $33.9 million or 24 cents a share.

“We saw our first sequential improvement in comparable store and identical store sales trends in six quarters driven by both average transaction count and basket size trends,” said John Mackey, chairman, chief executive officer.

Comparable same store sales growth declined 4% in the fiscal first quarter 2009, 4.8% in the second quarter and 2.5% in the third quarter.
