U.S. Deficit to Surge to $1.8 Trillion

    The latest nonpartisan U.S. Congressional office suggested that the U.S. budget deficits will surge to $1.8 trillion in fiscal 2009 and to $1.4 trillion in fiscal 2010. Obama administration is looking to spend $3.55 trillion in fiscal 2010.

[R]4:15PM New York – The latest nonpartisan congressional office suggested that the U.S. budget deficits will surge to $1.8 trillion in fiscal 2009 and to $1.4 trillion in 2010. Obama administration is looking to spend $3.55 trillion in fiscal 2010.[/R]

The Congressional Budget Office revised its budget deficit estimate for the years 2009 and 2010.

The nonpartisan congressional office estimated $1.8 trillion in deficit for the current fiscal year, lower from the previous estimate of $1.2 trillion. The office also doubled its projection for the deficit in 2010 to $1.4 trillion.

President Obama is looking to spend $3.55 trillion in fiscal 2010. The CBO estimates that the proposed spending plan will add $4.8 trillion in deficit over the next three decades.

The CBO estimated gross domestic product to decline 1.5% in fiscal 2009 and surge to 4.1% in the years 2010 and 2011. The unemployment rate is expected to peak at 9.4% before the early part of 2010 and will hover above 7% till 2011.
