H&R Block Loss, National Semi Net Falls 63%

    H&R Block, Inc second quarter revenues fell 1.5% to $351.5 million and net loss was $135.9 million or 41 cents a share. National Semiconductor Corporation second quarter sales fell 16% to $421.6 million and net income fell 63% to $33.9 million or 14 cents a share.

H&R Block, Inc, the nation''s largest tax preparer said second quarter revenues fell 1.5% to $351.5 million from $356.7 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $135.9 million or 41 cents a diluted share compared to net loss of $502.3 million or $1.55 a share a year ago.

H&R Block, Inc ((HRB)) in the last one year traded as high as $27.97 in September 2008 and as low as $15.00 in October 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price of $20.35 the company has market cap of $6.68 billion.

National Semiconductor Corporation, a semiconductor company focused on analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits said second quarter sales fell 16% to $421.6 million from $499 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 63% to $33.9 million or 14 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $90.6 million or 33 cents per share a year ago.
