Amedisys, Inc ((AMED)) fell 20.0% or $8.84 to $35.16 after he health care provider’s stock was downgraded by Deutsche Bank analyst pointing to concerns about a growing number of patients who aren''t paying their bills. Darren Lehrich lowered his stock rating to ""Hold"" from ""Buy.""
Barnes & Noble, Inc, the book retailer dropped 5.6% to $12.36 after it reported third quarter sales fell 4.3% to $1.12 billion from $1.17 billion a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $18.4 million or 34 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $4.4 million or 7 cents per share a year ago. Comparable same store sales decreased 7.4%.

Net income in the quarter fell 39% to $7.4 million or 6 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $12.2 million or 10 cents per share a year ago. Comparable same store sales fell 2.8%.

Lincoln National Corporation ((LNC)) fell 18.3% or $1.34 to $5.97 after the stock was down over 40% yesterday. Barclays assigned $60 price target.
GameStop Corp (GME)) dropped 6% to $19.30 after the retailer of video games entertainment software reported third quarter sales rose 5% to $1.7 billion from $1.61 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 10% to $46.7 million or 28 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $52.0 million or 31 cents per share a year ago. Comparable same store sales decreased 1.8%.

The third quarter revenues rose 11.6% to $1.25 billion from $1.12 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 22% to $35.8 million or 28 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $29.5 million or 23 cents per share a year ago. Comparable same store sales increased 5.4%.
The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc ((RBS)) gained 12.3% or $1.51 to $13.72 after the U.K. bank shares soared 13% Thursday on expectations stockholders will vote in favor of a proposed 20 billion pound ($30 billion) investment from the government, which would shore up the beleaguered bank''s balance sheet.
Shareholders are due to vote later Thursday on the plan to issue 15 billion pounds of new shares underwritten by the government, and sell 5 billion pounds of preference shares directly to the government.
School Specialty, Inc ((SCHS)) dropped 8.6% to $16.54 after the education company providing supplemental learning products to the preK-12 market reported second quarter revenues fell 0.7% to $390.3 million from $392.9 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 12% to $32.3 million or $1.71 per diluted share compared to net income of $36.6 million or $1.74 per share a year ago.
