China's indexes lacked direction ahead of the politburo meeting this week, and investors held out for possible policy support amid a weakening economic growth backdrop.

Brent crude oil prices decreased by 0.9% to $89.99 a barrel amid heightened tensions in the Middle East. Energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz were disrupted for the third week as Iran and the U.S. continued to exchange military strikes.
