Stock market indexes in India advanced, tracking markets in Asia as investors hoped for a year-end market rally.
The Sensex index increased by 1.0% to 78,856.78, and the Nifty index rose by 1.1% to 23,857.30.
On the Mumbai stock exchange, 178 stocks traded at their 52-week highs, and 68 stocks traded at their 52-week lows.
Indian Oil Corporation increased 0.9% to ₹138.29 after the company's board approved an investment of ₹4,382 crore in its yarn project in Odisha.
Brightcom Group Ltd. jumped 4.9% to ₹9.82 after the company announced next steps for revocation of its trading suspension.
AGI Greenpac Ltd. dropped 1.7% to ₹1,206.85 after the plastic and glass packaging company's board approved fundraising plans through a secondary equity offering.
Piramal Enterprises Ltd. rose 1.9% to ₹1,116.0, and the company announced its plans to raise 2,000 crore through secured non-convertible debentures.
Hindustan Construction Company decreased 2.5% to ₹42.45 after the company said it divested its stake in Switzerland-based real estate construction company Steiner AG.
UltraTech Cement Ltd. increased 0.9% to ₹11,524.55, and the Competition Commission approved the company's plans to acquire a 32.72% stake in India Cements Ltd. for ₹3,945 crore.
The company has launched an open offer to acquire an additional stake of 26% for ₹3,142 crore.
