Air France KLM April Traffic Drops, John Wood Soars 9%

Air France KLM said passenger numbers in April dropped 2.5%. BBA Aviation said revenues soared 10%. John Wood Group surged after the oil service provider offered optimistic views.

In London trading, FTSE 100 index increased 12.93 or 0.2% to 7,714.10 and in Frankfurt the DAX index dropped 34.29 or 0.3% to 12,988.86.

In Paris, CAC 40 index slipped 12.15 or 0.2% to 5,534.20.

Air France KLM SA surged 6.5% to €7.52 after France-based airline service provider said total passenger numbers in April declined 2.5% to 8.2 million mainly driven by Air France strike.

Available seat-kilometers slumped 3.1% and load factor increased 0.4 percentage point to 88.1%.

BBA Aviation Plc gained 1.1% to 333.80 pence after the U.K.-based aviation services provider said revenues in the four-month period ending in April soared 9.7% and revenues in Signature flights surged 13.9% but after-market services revenue dropped 0.5%.

The aviation services provider forecasted fiscal 2018 pretax profit of about £247.3 million.

John Wood Group Plc soared 9.3% to 642.20 pence after the U.K.-based energy service provider said trading momentum in the first-quarter is encouraging and consolidation of Amec Foster Wheeler is on schedule.

The oilfield services provider forecasted fiscal 2018 revenues “to be strong” and pretax profit growth is estimated to be in-line with expectations and cost savings of more than $50 million and the company is also confident of at least $170 million in synergies by the end of the third year after integration.
