Danone Sales Boosted by China, Total SA Agrees to Acquire Direct Energie

In London trading, FTSE 100 index jumped 73.14 or 1% to 7,299.19 and in Frankfurt the DAX index fell 28.33 or 0.2% to 12,556.95.
In Paris, CAC 40 index increased 14.22 or 0.3% to 5,367.89.
Danone SA jumped 2% to €67.38 after France-based dairy and foods products maker reported sales in the first-quarter ending in March soared 4.9% from a year ago to €6.1 billion.
On March 27, Danone completed the sale part of its stake in Yakult for about 175 billion yen or €1.3 billion.
Heineken NV slumped 1.7% to €88.08 after the Netherlands-based brewer reported net profit in the first-quarter declined 11.3% from a year ago to €260 million despite 6.1% jump in beer volume.
Hemfosa Fastigheter AB gained 0.7% to 104.60 Swedish kronor after Sweden-based property developer said preliminary rental income in the first-quarter soared 12.9% from a year ago to 815 million kronor.
Net income in the quarter fell 1.8% to 439 million kronor from 447 million kronor in the same period a year ago.
Getlink Corporate slipped 0.6% to €11.50 after France-based Eurotunnel shuttle vehicle services provider said revenues in the first-quarter ending in March jumped 5% from a year ago to €241.4 million.
Eurotunnel Shuttle revenue showed strong growth of 7% to €138.3 million and Railway Network revenues increased 3% to €70.1 million.
The Eurotunnel vehicle services provider forecasted operating profit by fiscal 2022 of about €735 million.
Total SA advanced 1.3% to €49.56 after France-based oil and gas producer agreed to acquire 74.33% stake in domestic electric utility provider Direct Energie at a price of €42 per share, ex-dividend of €0.35 per share, representing aggregate acquisition price of about €1.4 billion.
The transaction will be financed through Total’s available cash.
