Walgreens Net Surges 27%, BlackBerry Loss Narrows

    BlackBerry net loss narrowed but sales plunged 19%. Omnova Solutions net profit doubled and reaffirmed fiscal forecast. SecureWorks net swung to profit. UniFirst surged after strong profit and revenues. Walgreens Boots Alliance net soared on 12% jump in revenues.

BlackBerry Limited ((BB)) slid 6 cents to $12.34 after the Canada-based wireless handsets and software developer reported revenues in the fourth-quarter ending in February plunged 18.5% from a year ago to $233 million.

Net loss in the quarter narrowed to $10 million or 6 cents per diluted share from $47 million or 10 cents in the same quarter last year.

In the quarter, BlackBerry had approx 3,500 enterprise customer orders and about 70% of fourth quarter software and services revenues were recurring revenues.

Mersana Therapeutics Inc ((MRSN)) slipped 1.1% or 19 cents to $17.12 after the antibody drug developer stated revenues in the fourth-quarter ending in December tumbled 72.5% from a year ago to $3.3 million.

Net in the quarter swung to a loss of $13.9 million or 61 cents per diluted share from profit of $0.1 million or 7 cents in the same quarter last year.

Omnova Solutions Inc ((OMN)) soared 7.7% or 80 cents to $11.25 after the chemicals producer said revenues in the first-quarter ending in February rose 2.3% from a year ago to $178.7 million.

Net income in the quarter doubled to $7.3 million or 16 cents per diluted share from $3.6 million or 8 cents in the same quarter last year.

Omnova reaffirmed fiscal 2018 diluted earnings per share growth may unchanged in - the fourth consecutive year.

SecureWorks Corp ((SCWX)) dropped 2.8% or 25 cents to $8.57 after the security solutions provider stated revenues in the fourth-quarter ending on February 2 increased 1.4% from a year ago to $120.7 million.

Net in the quarter swung to profit $9.9 million or 12 cents per diluted share from a loss of $6.8 million or 9 cents in the same quarter last year.

UniFirst Corporation ((UNF)) surged 7.4% or $10.73 to $155.63 after the uniforms and protective wear maker said revenues in the second-quarter ending on February 24 advanced 7.1% from a year ago to $419.3 million.

Net income in the quarter jumped 20.4% to $58.4 million or $2.85 per diluted share from $22.5 million or $1.10 in the same quarter last year.

UniFirst forecasted fiscal 2018 revenues in the range of $1.66 billion to $1.67 billion and diluted earnings per share between $7.45 and $7.65.

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc ((WBA)) rose 18 cents to $66.14 after the drug stores operator reported revenues in the second-quarter ending in February surged 12.1% from a year ago to $33 billion.

Comparable stores sales in the quarter increased 2.4% and comparable pharmacy sales jumped 5.1% and prescriptions filled in comparable stores increased 4% Retail sales fell 0.7% and comparable retail sales slumped 2.7% from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter surged 27.3% to $1.3 billion or $1.36 per diluted share from $1.1 million or 98 cents in the same quarter last year.

The pharmacy retailer lifted lower and upper ends of its fiscal 2018 forecast and reaffirmed diluted net earnings per share in the range of $5.85 to $6.05.
