Earnings Review
American Woodmark Corporation ((AMWD)) declined 13.9% or $13.05 to $80.50 after the kitchen cabinets and vanities maker said net sales in the first-quarter ending in July jumped 7% from a year ago to $276.8 million.
Net income in the quarter rose 2.8% to $22.3 million or $1.36 per diluted share from $21.7 million or $1.32 in the same quarter last year.
Coty Inc ((COTY)) tumbled 12.4% or $2.42 to $17.12 after the beauty products and perfumes maker reported revenues in the fourth-quarter ending in June increased 4% from a year ago to $2.2 billion.
Net loss in the quarter widened to $304.8 million or 41 cents per diluted share from $31 million or 9 cents in the same quarter last year.
DSW Inc ((DSW)) soared 22.1% or $3.46 to $19.14 after the footwear retailer said net sales in the second-quarter ending on July 29 advanced 3.3% from a year ago to $680.4 million.
Comparable store sales in the quarter increased 0.6%.
Net income in the quarter jumped 14.4% to $28.6 million or 35 cents per diluted share from $25 million or 30 cents in the same quarter last year.
The footwear retailer estimated diluted earnings per share in the range of $1.45 to $1.55.
Daktronics, Inc ((DAKT)) jumped 7.6% or 71 cents to $10.05 after the electronic scoreboards and display systems supplier stated net sales in the first-quarter ending in July soared 9.9% from a year ago to $172.7 million.
Net income in the quarter surged 52.7% to $8.4 million or 19 cents per diluted share from $5.5 million or 13 cents in the same quarter last year.
Kirkland''s, Inc ((KIRK)) surged 30.3% or $2.54 to $10.92 after the home decor and gifts retailer said net sales in the second-quarter ending on July 29 increased 7% from a year ago to $131.7 million.
Comparable store sales in the quarter rose 1.2%.
Net loss in the quarter widened to $3.8 million or 24 cents per diluted share from $3.6 million or 22 cents in the same quarter last year.
Kirkland reaffirmed fiscal 2017 diluted earnings per share in the range of 50 cents to 65 cents.
Nordson Corporation ((NDSN)) plunged 9.2% or $11.74 to $113.58 after the adhesives, coatings and polymers producer reported sales in the third-quarter ending in July soared 20% from a year ago to $589 million.
Net income in the quarter jumped 20.5% to $101.5 million or $1.74 per diluted share from $84.2 million or $1.46 in the same quarter last year.
Nordson forecasted fourth-quarter sales to increase between 4% and 8% from a year ago period and diluted earnings per share in the range of $1.18 to $1.32.
Toll Brothers Inc ((TOL)) slumped 3.8% or $1.45 to $36.78 after the luxury residents maker said revenues in the third-quarter ending in July jumped 18% from a year ago to $1.5 billion.
Net income in the quarter soared 40.9% to $148.6 million or 87 cents per diluted share from $105.5 million or 61 cents in the same quarter last year.
The home builder said home building deliveries in the quarter surged 26% to 1,899 units with average price of dropped to $791,400 compared to $842,700 in a year ago.
The builder forecasted fiscal fourth-quarter deliveries between 2,275 units and 2,575 units with an average price between $840,000 and $860,000.
