Earnings Review

Apollo Education Group Inc ((APOL)) slid 4 cents to $9 after the private education provider said revenues in the third-quarter ending in May declined 17.5% from a year ago to $558 million.

Net income in the quarter plunged 57% to $20.7 million or 19 cents per diluted share compared to $48.1 million or 44 cents per share from the same quarter last year.

Cathay General Bancorp ((CATY)) soared 5.7% or $1.55 to $28.90 after the financial services provider agreed to acquire Taiwan-focused U.S. subsidiary SinoPac Bancorp from Bank SinoPac for about $340 million.

Chase Corporation ((CCF)) dropped 2.2% or $1.33 to $57.50 after the industrial materials manufacturer stated revenues in the third-quarter ending in May slid 1% from a year ago to $64.2 million.

Net income in the quarter jumped 5% to $7.5 million or 80 cents per diluted share compared to $7.2 million or 77 cents per share from the same quarter last year.

Helen of Troy Limited ((HELE)) slumped 2.8% or $2.87 to $99.82 after the Bermuda-based consumer products distributor net sales in the first-quarter ending in May rose 0.8% from a year ago to $347.9 million.

Net income in the quarter declined 6.9% to $19 million or 68 cents per diluted share compared to $20.4 million or 70 cents per share from the same quarter last year.

PriceSmart, Inc ((PSMT)) plunged 9.4% or $8.60 to $82.95 after the discount stores operator revenues in the third-quarter ending in May increased 1% from a year ago to $704.3 million.

Net income in the quarter plummeted 20.7% to $16.8 million or 55 cents per diluted share compared to $21.2 million or 70 cents per share from the same quarter last year.

WD-40 Company ((WDFC)) gained 1.2% or $1.43 to $117.32 after the consumer products maker said total net sales in the third-quarter ending in May advanced 4% from a year ago to $96.4 million.

Net income in the quarter soared 16% to $12.7 million or 88 cents per diluted share compared to $11 million or 75 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
