Earnings Review
Ambarella Inc ((AMBA)) jumped 8.4% or $3.59 to $46.07 after the high-definition video chip maker said revenues in the first-quarter ending in April plunged 19.5% from a year ago to $57.2 million.
Net income in the quarter tumbled 90.5% to $1.8 million or 5 cents per diluted share compared to $18.9 million or 56 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
The Cooper Companies, Inc ((COO)) gained 1.2% or $1.98 to $169.40 after the medical devices maker reported revenues in the second-quarter ending in April advanced 11% from a year ago to $483.8 million.
Net income in the quarter soared 22.1% to $74.1 million or $1.52 per diluted share compared to $60.7 million or $1.23 per share from the same quarter last year.
Cooper forecasted total revenues in the year between $1.93 billion and $1.96 billion and non-GAAP earnings per share in the range of $8.20 to $8.50.
Five Below Inc ((FIVE)) increased 28 cents to $43.13 after the specialty retailer reported sales in the first-quarter ending in April soared 25.4% from a year ago to $192.7 million.
Comparable store sale in the quarter jumped 4.9%.
Net income in the quarter surged 58.1% to $6.8 million or 12 cents per diluted share compared to $4.3 million or 8 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
In the second-quarter, the retailer estimated net sales in the fiscal 2016 in the range of $216 million to $219 million and net income between $8.5 million and $9.2 million and diluted earnings per share in the range of 16 cents to 17 cents.
The company forecasted net sales in the year between $995 million to $1.05 billion and net income in the range of $69.9 million to $72.2 million and diluted earnings per share in the range of $1.27 to $1.31.
Hurco Companies, Inc ((HURC)) rose 28 cents to $33.15 after the testing equipment maker said sales in the second-quarter ending in April jumped 4% from a year ago to $52 million.
Net income in the quarter declined 7.5% to $3.7 million or 56 cents per diluted share compared to $4 million or 60 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
IDT Corporation ((IDT)) soared 8.1% or 99 cents to $13.19 after the telephone services provider reported revenues in the third-quarter ending in April slumped 7.5% from a year ago to $355.2 million.
Net income in the quarter surged to $4.2 million or 19 cents per diluted share compared to $0.6 million or 2 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc ((SHOS)) declined 4% or 26 cents to $6.24 after the home appliances, lawn and garden equipment retailer said net sales in the first-quarter ending in April plunged 7.9% from a year ago to $537 million.
Comparable store sale in the quarter fell 2.6% and 3.1% in Hometown and Outlet, respectively.
Net in the quarter swung to a loss of $3.6 million or 16 cents per diluted share compared to profit of $1.3 million or 6 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
Zumiez Inc ((ZUMZ)) dropped 4.2% or 64 cents to $14.43 after the apparel, footwear, accessories retailer reported net sales in the first-quarter ending in April fell 2.6% from a year ago to $173 million.
Comparable store sale in the quarter declined 7.5%.
Net in the quarter swung to a loss of $2.1 million or 8 cents per diluted share compared to profit of $2.8 million or 9 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
