Earnings Review
Analog Devices, Inc ((ADI)) jumped 2.3% or $1.20 to $53.27 after the analog circuits maker said total revenue in the first-quarter ending in January slid 0.3% from a year ago to $769 million.
Net income in the quarter declined 8% to $164.5 million or 52 cents per diluted share compared to $178.8 million or 57 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
Gannett Co Inc ((GCI)) plunged 9.5% or $1.47 to $13.88 after the media and marketing company stated revenue in the fourth-quarter ending on December 27 plummeted 9.7% from a year ago to $739.3 million.
Net income in the quarter tumbled 69.5% to $20.4 million or 17 cents per diluted share compared to $66.9 million or 58 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
The GEO Group Inc ((GEO)) jumped 6.6% or $1.83 to $29.51 after the real estate developer reported revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in December soared 16.9% from a year ago to $500.1 million.
Net income in the quarter surged 15.7% to $44.1 million or 59 cents per diluted share compared to $38.1 million or 52 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
The Medicines Company ((MDCO)) soared 9.3% or $2.78 to $32.78 after the biopharmaceutical company said total net revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in December plummeted 61.2% from a year ago to $67.2 million.
Net loss in the quarter widened to $206.1 million or $2.99 per diluted share compared to $5.3 million or 8 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
Noble Energy, Inc ((NBL)) advanced 3.1% or 89 cents to $29.51 after the oil, and gas producer reported total revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in December slumped 20.9% from a year ago to $846 million.
Net in the quarter swung to a loss of $2.03 billion or $4.73 per diluted share compared to profit of $402 million or $1.05 per share from the same quarter last year.
Priceline Group Inc ((PCLN)) surged 11.5% or $127.20 to $1237.88 after the online travel services provider reported total revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in December soared 8.7% from a year ago to $2 billion.
Net income in the quarter jumped 11.6% to $504.3 million or $10 per diluted share compared to $451.8 million or $8.56 per share from the same quarter last year.
T-Mobile US Inc ((TMUS)) increased 2.4% or 89 cents to $37.34 after the wireless network operator said total revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in December rose 1.2% from a year ago to $8.25 billion.
Net income in the quarter soared 180.2% to $283 million or 34 cents per diluted share compared to $101 million or 12 cents per share from the same quarter last year.
In the quarter, T-Mobile added 2.1 million net customer and 8.3 million in fiscal year 2015 and the post-paid phone churn rate slid 27 basis points to 1.46% while service revenues climbed 11.7%.
For the year, the wireless network operator estimated to add between 2.4 million and 3.4 million post-paid net customer and operating profit in the range of $9.1 million to $9.7 million.
