Stocks in Mumbai traded lower after a European agency lowered economic growth outlook in the region and investors focused on the latest earnings from domestic companies.
Rupee weakened 69 paisa to 66.44 against one U.S. dollar.
The Sensex Index dropped 143.84 or 0.6% to close at 26121.40. The CNX Nifty decreased 39.10 or 0.5% to 7,915.20.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited decreased 2.9% to ₹276.65 after the largest port developer plans to acquire the Kattupalli Port in Tamil Nadu from Larsen and Toubro Ltd for an undisclosed amount.
Aurobindo Pharma Limited jumped 5.2% to ₹855.90 after the natural and ayurvedic medicine maker said net in the second-quarter soared 21.4% from a year ago to ₹451.76 crore.
Net sales in the quarter jumped 14.6% to ₹3,280.11 crore.
Britannia Industries Ltd dropped 2.5% to ₹3,046.30 after the bakery and dairy products maker said net in the second-quarter plunged 19.2% from a year ago to ₹218.63 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter advanced 12.3% to ₹2,238.81 crore.
Hindustan Copper Limited rose 1.2% to ₹54.15 after the copper maker said net in the second-quarter tumbled 56.9% from a year ago to ₹7.41 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter dropped 9% to ₹216.31 crore.
Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited declined 4.5% to ₹64.55 after the real estate developer said net in the second-quarter slipped 6.6% from a year ago to ₹57.79 crore.
