HDFC Bank Net Jumps 21%, Hero and Bajaj Sales Struggle

HDFC Bank said quarterly profit jumped 21%. Bajaj Auto and Bajaj Finserv net surged. ACC net declined 40%. Everest Ind net swung to a loss. Hero MotoCorp net rose 1% but revenues fell 2%. Mphasis profit surged 22%.

Rupee weakened 7 paisa to 65.12 against one U.S. dollar.

The Sensex Index fell 19.17 to close at 27,287.66. The CNX Nifty slid 9.95 to 8,251.87.

Gainers & Losers

ACC Limited edged down 0.1% to ₹1,380.65 after the cement maker reported net in the third-quarter declined 40.2% from a year ago to ₹115.21 crore.

Net revenues in the quarter slid 1.5% to ₹2,808.29 crore.

Bajaj Auto Limited jumped 3.3% to ₹2,518.25 after the second largest two-wheeler maker reported net income in the second-quarter surged 57.9% from a year ago to ₹933.06 crore.

Net revenues in the quarter rose 2.9% to ₹6,250.42 crore.

Bajaj Finserv Ltd increased 1.4% to ₹1,850.30 after the financial services provider reported net in the second-quarter soared 39.6% from a year ago to ₹441.13 crore.

Net revenues in the quarter surged 34.9% to ₹2,223.80 crore.

Biocon Limited fell 1.1% to ₹452.15 after the drug maker said net in the second-quarter surged three-fold from a year ago to ₹306 crore.

Net revenues in the quarter advanced 12% to ₹861 crore.

Everest Industries Limited plunged 10.1% to ₹314 after the building products maker said net in the second-quarter swung to a loss of ₹2.28 crore compared to profit of ₹3.37 crore in the same period last year.

Net revenues in the quarter jumped 16.9% to ₹283.78 crore.

The Federal Bank Limited plunged 12.1% to ₹57.50 after the lender said net in the second-quarter tumbled 32.9% from a year ago to ₹161.28 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter rose 0.9% to ₹2,084.53 crore.

HDFC Bank Limited edged down 0.03% to ₹1,094.80 after the lender said net in the second-quarter jumped 20.5% from a year ago to ₹2,869.45 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter soared 24.7% to ₹17,324.28 crore.

The lender added ratio of gross non-performing assets in the quarter fell to 0.91% from 0.95% in June quarter and 1.02% in a year ago period.

The ratio of net non-performing assets in the quarter slid 0.25% from 0.27% in June quarter and 0.28% in the same period last year.

Hero MotoCorp Limited rose 0.5% to ₹2,619.05 after the largest motorcycle maker said net in the second-quarter increased 1.1% from a year ago to ₹772.06 crore.

Net revenues in the quarter slipped 2.4% to ₹6,939.68 crore.

Mphasis Limited soared 9.6% to ₹458.25 after the information technology services provider said net in the second-quarter soared 21.8% from a year ago to ₹184.72 crore.

Net sales in the quarter increased 4.1% to ₹1,557.46 crore.
