Stocks in Mumbai traded higher and investors focused on the latest corporate earnings announcements.
Rupee closed unchanged at 1 paisa to 64.80 against one U.S. dollar.
The Sensex Index gained 150.32 or 0.6% to close at 27,364.92. The CNX Nifty added 36.90 or 0.5% to 8,272.05.

Agro Tech Foods Limited declined 3.5% to ₹596.75 after the food products distributor reported net in the second-quarter tumbled 35.4% from a year ago to ₹5.13 crore.
Total revenues in the quarter increased 1.2% to ₹199.57 crore.
CRISIL Limited rose 0.7% to ₹2,000 after the credit rating agency said net in the third-quarter advanced 8.6% from a year ago to ₹76.87 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter jumped 14.1% to ₹374 crore.
Infosys Limited increased 1.7% to ₹1,112.20 after the software services provider agreed to acquire information management consulting firm Noah Consulting, LLC for $70 million.
In addition, the software developer entered in a joint venture with the U.S.-based International Business Machines Corporation to develop the Cloud apps for its global client base.
HCL Technologies Limited gained 1.9% to ₹857.15 after the software services provider said net in the first-quarter decreased 3.2% from a year ago to ₹1,726 crore.
Total revenues in the quarter rose 3.3% to ₹10,097 crore.
Kitex Garments Limited edged up 0.4% to ₹821.10 after the readymade garments maker reported net in the second-quarter soared 40.5% from a year ago to ₹27.15 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter gained 4.7% to ₹134.25 crore.
National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd. edged up 0.2% to ₹1,018.25 after the construction services provider secured a project of civil works for ₹126.33 crore.
RPP Infra Projects Ltd fell 0.7% to ₹120.50 after the infrastructure developer won its first order for ₹11.90 crore from Southern Railways.
Sunil Hitech Engineers Limited soared 5.8% to ₹292.30 after the construction services provider secured two orders worth ₹474 crore from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in Bihar.
Tata Sponge Iron Limited declined 3.9% to ₹491.50 after the sponge iron maker said net in the second-quarter plunged 70.6% from a year ago to ₹5.69 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter tumbled 27.9% to ₹161.46 crore.
UltraTech Cement Limited decreased 1.8% to ₹2,903 after the cement maker said net in the second-quarter rose 3.4% from a year ago to ₹427 crore.
Net sales in the quarter increased 4% to ₹5,951 crore.
