Jaguar Land Rover September Sales Up 3%, LIC Housing Net Soars 21%

Stocks in Mumbai traded higher in active trading and financials were in focus.

Rupee strengthened 21 paisa to 64.83 against one U.S. dollar.

The Sensex Index jumped 230.40 or 0.9% to close at 27,010.14. The CNX Nifty gained 71.60 or 0.9% to 8,179.50.

Gainers & Losers

Adani Enterprises Limited surged 14.1% to ₹96.75 after the conglomerate said that the new Australian government approved $16.5 billion Carmicheal coal mine and rail project in accordance with the Australian environment law, subject to 36 conditions.

Cyient Limited soared 6.7% to ₹625.65 after net in the second-quarter advanced 9.2% from a year ago to ₹98.52 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter gained 13.3% to ₹800.53 crore.

DIC India Limited advanced 2.7% to ₹698.25 after the Japanese maker of print inks said net in the third-quarter surged more than two-fold to 248.4% from a year ago to ₹7.42 crore.

Net sales in the quarter increased 4.1% to ₹191.37 crore.

The Karur Vysya Bank Limited declined 4.1% to ₹428.30 after net in the second-quarter surged 57% from a year ago to ₹142.22 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter soared 51% to ₹205.74 crore.

The bank said gross non-performing asset in the quarter rose to 1.96% in the quarter compared to 1.36% in the year ago quarter.

The net non-performing asset in the quarter also increased 0.96% from 0.59% in the same period last year.

LIC Housing Finance Limited increased 1.9% to ₹491.50 after net in the second-quarter soared 20.6% from a year ago to ₹411.73 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter jumped 16.2% to ₹3,089.35 crore.

Mastek Limited plunged 17.1% to ₹145.50 after net in the second-quarter tumbled 40% from a year ago to ₹2.70 crore.

Net revenues in the quarter slid 1.5% to ₹137 crore.

NIIT Limited jumped 3.3% to ₹94.90 after the software developer received contract to provide managed training services to the U.S.-based Citi Bank’s branches in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Punj Lloyd Limited gained 3.9% to ₹27.95 after the infrastructure developer secured a contract worth ₹367 crore from Indian Oil Corporation.

Tata Motors Limited soared 8.1% to ₹380.70 after the largest truck and car maker’s luxury car unit Jaguar Land Rover reported in September retail sales rose 3% to 47,634 vehicles.

For the first nine months, the automaker sold 349,412 vehicles, matching the sales in the period a year ago.
