Weekly Surge of 3.1% in Sensex, Tata to Build Assembly Plant in Slovakia

[R]6:00 PM Mumbai – Tata Motor’s Jaguar Land Rover plans to invest $30 million to build an assembly plant in Slovakia. DLF promoters plan to sell their 40% stake in rental arm and lower debt. IndusInd Bank said net in the quarter soared 30% on 21% increases in revenues.[/R]

In volatile week, benchmark indexes in Mumbai closed higher and extended weekly gains.

International markets in Asia and in Europe closed higher after normalcy returned to trading and the latest U.S. policymakers minutes of meeting suggested that most members held out for a rate hike this year.

Rupee strengthened 32 paisa to 64.73 against one U.S. dollar.

The Sensex Index advanced 233.70 or 0.9% to close at 27,079.51. The CNX Nifty increased 60.35 or 0.7% to 8,189.70.

For the week, Sensex Index soared 3.1% and CNX Nifty jumped 2.9%.

Gainers & Losers

8K Miles Software Services Limited after net in the second-quarter surged 21.1% from a year ago to ₹8.74 crore.

Net sales in the quarter soared 20.7% to ₹61.09 crore.

Aurobindo Pharma Limited jumped 4.9% to ₹787.95 after the natural and ayurvedic medicine maker received approval from the United States drug regulator to manufacture and market Aripiprazole Tablets in six strengths.

DLF Limited rose 0.8% to ₹139.80 after the real estate developer’s promoters plan to sell 40% of their stake in the rental arm DLF Cyber City Developers to institutional investors for about ₹14,000 crore.

The company added net debts increased ₹633 crore to ₹21,598 crore in the quarter ended June 30.

Future Consumer Enterprise Limited soared 8.6% to ₹17.70 after the retailer signed an agreement with Baba Ramdev''s Patanjali Ayurveda.

IndusInd Bank Limited fell 0.7% to ₹939 after net in the second-quarter soared 30.2% from a year ago to ₹560.04 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter jumped 20.5% to ₹3,581.31 crore.

Redington (India) Limited increased 1.8% to ₹119 after the telecom services provider’s subsidiary secured distributorship for Apple iPhones in the U.A.E.

Tata Motors Limited advanced 3.8% to ₹355.90 after the truck and motor vehicle maker’s Jaguar Land Rover unit plans to invest ₹200 crore or $30 million to build an assembly plant in Slovakia.

Vedanta Limited surged 11.6% to ₹103.60 after the metal miner said in second-quarter its zinc production in India jumped 13% at 240,000 tons.
