Sensex Rises 0.6%; Gujarat NRE to Sell 62 Windmills in Gujarat

Gujarat NRE Coke plans to sell 62 windmills in Gujarat. Tech Mahindra received a contract from Bombardier. Tata Steel signed an agreement with the Canada based company to develop iron ore sites.

Market indexes on Dalal Street extended gains for the second day reflecting worldwide advance and the rupee edged lower.

Rupee weakened 12 paisa to 65.40 against one U.S. dollar.

The Sensex Index increased 147.33 or 0.6% to close at 26,932.88. The CNX Nifty rose 33.60 or 0.4% to 8,152.90.

Gainers & Losers

Gujarat NRE Coke Limited soared 19.8% to ₹3.76 after the metallurgical coke producer received an approval from the company board for its plan to sell 62 windmills in Gujarat for about ₹218.75 crore.

Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited edged up 0.2% to ₹1,258.10 after the lender plans to sell non-convertible debenture and to raise ₹10,000 crore.

Prabhat Dairy Limited, the dairy products maker said that the Reliance Mutual Fund bought 2.13% stake in the company.

Suzlon Energy Ltd jumped 3% to ₹22.30 after the wind turbine maker secured an order for 100.8 megawatt to be installed at Beluguppa-based Orange Renewable in Andhra Pradesh.

Tata Steel Limited increased 1.2% to ₹227.15 after the steel producer signed an agreement with the Alberta-based New Millennium Iron Corporation to develop iron ore sites in Canada.

Tech Mahindra Limited decreased 1.4% to ₹561.65 and the telecom service provider received a contract from Bombardier to develop an aircraft ground support system.
