September Vehicle Sales Jumps in India, Weekly Rise of 1.5% in Sensex

Ashok Leyland total auto sales soared 26% and Hero MotoCorp total sales rose 0.7%. Maruti Suzuki India sales increased 4%. Eicher Motors sales surged 28% but Mahindra & Mahindra passenger vehicle sales slipped 7%.

Market indexes in Mumbai traded higher as vehicle makers report better than expected sales in September.
Rupee strengthen 7 paisa to 65.51 against one U.S. dollar.
The Sensex Index increased 66.12 or 0.3% to close at 26,220.95. The CNX Nifty added 2 to 7,950.90.
Markets are scheduled to close tomorrow to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti.
For the week, Sensex Index advanced 1.5% and CNX Nifty gained 1.3%.
Gainers & Losers
Ashok Leyland Limited advanced 2.2% to ₹94.25 after the truck maker reported in September total sales surged 61% to 14,771 units.
In addition, medium and heavy commercial vehicles sales in the month soared 83% to 12,134 units and light commercial vehicles sales rose 3% to 2,637 units.
Eicher Motors Limited gained 2.7% to ₹18,270.55 after the truck and bus maker said total sales in September soared 27.7% to 4,248 units.
Hero MotoCorp Limited rose 0.7% to ₹2,413.85 after the largest motorcycle maker said total sales in September rose 0.7% to 606,744 units.
Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd jumped 3.8% to ₹264.05 after the power transmission company secured new orders worth ₹781 crore.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited dropped 2.3% to ₹4,579.85 after the auto maker said total sales in September increased 3.7% to 113,759 units.
The company added domestic sales in the month advanced 6.8% to 106,083 units but exports sales declined 26.6% to 7,676 units.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd edged down 0.4% to ₹1,255.15 after the tractor maker said passenger vehicle sales in September slipped 7% to 19,564 units.
Tractor maker said domestic passenger vehicle sales in the month dropped 6% to 39,963 units while exports sales soared 26% to 3,155 units.
