In London trading, FTSE 100 index edged up 7.10 or 0.2% to 6,554.34 and in Frankfurt the DAX index fell 44.81 or 0.4% to 10,940.33.
In Paris, CAC 40 index edged down 0.14 to 4,984.69.
Airbus Group SE fell 0.1% to €62.92 after the France-based aerospace and defense group confirmed that the India-based domestic budget airline IndiGo had finalized a large order for 250 single-aisle A320neo jets for at list prices for about $26 billion.
Alstom SA soared 6.6% to €27.60 after Reuters reported that General Electric Co. is likely to win approval from European regulators to buy the power business of the company.
EWOS, the Norway-based salmon nutrition feed supplier agreed to be acquired by the U.S.-based agribusiness firm Cargill Inc for about €1.35 billion or $1.50 billion from private equity firms Altor and Bain Capital.
The transaction is expected to close before the end of this year.
H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB gained 0.6% to 355.10 kronor after the Sweden-based apparel retailer reported sales in July soared 16% in local currencies from a year-ago period.
The retailer said total sales of August and for the third-quarter ending in August is schedule to release in a separate press note on September 15.
WM Morrison Supermarkets Plc slipped 1.4% to 175.30 pence after the U.K.-based supermarket stores operator is in advanced talks to sell its M Local convenience stores to the investment firm Greybull Capital.
In March, the retailer said it plans to close 23 M Local convenience stores and will slow new openings this fiscal year.
