Sensex Jumps 1.5%, ICICI Net Climbs, India to Trim Hindustan Copper Stake

ICICI Bank said quarterly net climbed 12% in 8% increase in revenues. Karur Vysya Bank net jumped 10% but Kotak Mahindra Bank net plunged 26%. GlaxoSmithKline net and revenues declined. Titan Company net fell 15%.

Stocks in Mumbai rose and rupee struggled near low in the year as investors shifted focus to domestic earnings.
Rupee weakened 9 paisa to 64.13 against one U.S. dollar.
The Sensex Index climbed 409.21 or 1.5% to close at 28,114.56. The CNX Nifty advanced 111.05 or 1.3% to 8,532.85.
For the week, Sensex Index slid 0.1% and CNX Nifty rose 0.1%.
For the month, Sensex Index increased 0.2% and CNX Nifty gained 0.9%.
Gainers & Losers
Exide Industries Limited increased 1.1% to ₹146.15 after the acid storage batteries maker reported net in the first-quarter declined 16.2% to ₹155.20 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter slipped 6% to ₹1,802.63 crore.
Gati Limited tumbled 8.6% to ₹180.90 after net in the first-quarter plunged 31.91% to ₹7.83 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter gained 5.2% to ₹420.36 crore.
GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited edged down 0.5% to ₹3,507.75 after healthcare products maker said net in the first-quarter decreased 5.1% to ₹93.28 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter fell 4.8% to ₹668.19 crore.
Hindustan Copper Limited climbed 5.4% to ₹61.70 after the copper products maker said the government plans to sell 15% stake in the company.
ICICI Bank Limited jumped 3.9% to ₹302.50 after the private sector bank operator said net in the first-quarter climbed 12.1% to ₹2,976.16 crore.
Total revenues in the quarter advanced 8.1% to ₹15,802.45 crore.
The Karur Vysya Bank Limited fell 0.7% to ₹477 after net in the first-quarter jumped 10.2% to ₹134.58 crore. Net revenues in the quarter increased 3.8% to ₹1,518.50 crore.
The gross non-performing assets in the quarter jumped 1.91% compared to 1.3% a year ago period.
The bank added net non-performing assets in the quarter rose 0.88% from 0.53% in the same period last year.
Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited dropped 2.3% to ₹695.70 after net in the first-quarter plunged 25.9% to ₹516.57 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter climbed 27.5% to ₹6,374.63 crore.
Titan Company Limited plunged 4.9% to ₹323.85 after net in the first-quarter dropped 14.8% to ₹151.06 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter fell 6.6% to ₹2,724.13 crore.
