Sensex at 3-Month High in India, Idea Cellular, PVR Net Climb

    Sensex in Mumbai traded at a 3-month high on a surge in energy sector stocks. Idea Cellular said quarterly profit climbed 28%. JSW Energy net declined 15%. Bajaj Finance profit surged 30% on 33% increase in revenues. PVR jumped 5%. Cairn India net declined 24%.

[R]6:00 PM Mumbai – Sensex in Mumbai traded at a 3-month high on a surge in energy sector stocks. Idea Cellular said quarterly profit climbed 28%. JSW Energy net declined 15%. Bajaj Finance profit surged 30% on 33% increase in revenues. PVR jumped 5%. Cairn India net declined 24%.

Stocks in Mumbai traded higher and Reliance Industries surged more than 4% in anticipation of higher earnings on Friday.

Rupee weakened 4 paisa to 63.60 against one U.S. dollar.

The Sensex Index jumped 322.79 or 1.2% to close at 28,504.93. The CNX Nifty increased 104.05 or 1.2% to 8,633.50.

Bajaj Finance Limited edged up 0.6% to ₹5,133 after the financial services provider said net in the first-quarter climbed 30.4% to ₹275.63 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter soared 32.9% to ₹1,655.84 crore.

Cairn India Limited advanced 2.6% to ₹166.95 after net in the first-quarter tumbled 23.6% to ₹834.98 crore.

Net revenues in the quarter plunged 36.2% to ₹3,190.66 crore.

Hindustan Construction Company Limited rose 0.9% to ₹23.80 after the infrastructure developer’s joint venture won an order of ₹785 crore.

Idea Cellular Limited decreased 1.8% to ₹178.95 after net in the first-quarter climbed 27.8% to ₹821.23 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter jumped 18% to ₹8,868.61 crore.

JSW Energy Limited increased 1.8% to ₹98.90 after the power generation company reported net in the first-quarter slipped 14.8% to ₹277.45 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter dropped 16.3% to ₹2,176.09 crore.

Jyoti Ltd plunged 7.2% to ₹82.60 after the engineering goods maker secured order for ₹14.92 crore from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation.

PVR Limited climbed 5.4% to ₹859.70 after net in the first-quarter surged more than six-fold to ₹58.05 crore.

Revenues in the quarter soared 33.9% to ₹486.84 crore.

SKF India Limited declined 4.6% to ₹1,385.70 after net in the second-quarter dropped 14% to ₹46.55 crore.

Net revenues in the quarter rose 1.5% to ₹630.55 crore.
