Sensex in India Jumps 1.5%; L&T, Infosys Win Orders

    Sensex in Mumbai extended gains in the second week. L&T secured new orders and extended its winning streak to the second week. NTPC plan to set up a 1,600 megawatt coal-based power plant in Odisha. Infosys won three orders from overseas clients.

Market indexes on Dalal Street extended gains for the second week and the Sensex in the last six trading days advanced 1,000 points.

Rupee strengthened 3 paisa to 63.52 against one U.S. dollar.

The Sensex Index jumped 414.04 or 1.5% to close at 27,730.21. The CNX Nifty gained 125.25 or 1.6% to 8,353.10.

Gainers & Losers

Blue Dart Express Limited increased 1.4% to ₹6,068.05 after the courier services provider increased its stake in Blue Dart Aviation from 49% to 74%.

Eicher Motors Limited fell 0.4% to ₹19,397.30 after the tractor and heavy duty vehicles maker said U.S.-based mutual fund manager Vanguard Group Inc plans to buy 1.57 lacs shares for about ₹309 crore in the company.

Infosys Limited jumped 2.8% to ₹1,024.40 after the software application developer won three orders from overseas clients.

Jaiprakash Associates Limited soared 5.7% to ₹13.10 after the cement maker sold its plant in Uttar Pradesh to Germany-based Heidelberg Cement for ₹500 crore.

Larsen & Toubro Limited rose 0.7% to ₹1,731.05 after the infrastructure developer secured new orders worth ₹1,507 crore from various businesses.

Mastek Ltd climbed 4.9% to ₹152.30 after the company said that the New Jersey-based Cover-All Technologies plans to merger with Majesco, the U.S. subsidiary of the company.

NTPC Limited gained 0.8% to ₹137.10 after the power distributor plan to set up a 1,600 megawatt coal-based project at Gajmara in Odisha.

Oberoi Realty Limited edged down 0.2% to ₹296.15 after the real estate developer‘s board approved to raise ₹324 crore or $51 million through preferential issue of shares to Aranda Investments, an indirect subsidiary of Temasek Holdings.

OnMobile Global Limited surged 4.6% to ₹85.95 after the company secured multi-year Ringback Tones partnership renewal with Latin America-based Movistar.
