Sensex in India Eases; BPCL, Hindalco, RInfra Swing on Earnings

Godrej said quarterly profit jumped 22%. BPCL net declined 30%. AstraZeneca India surged 16% on 31% increase in revenues and quarterly net swung to profit. Bata India quarterly net soared 48%. Hindalco profit plunged 36% but revenues jumped 11%.

In lacklustre trading, market indexes in Mumbai closed down and rupee edged slightly higher after the U.S. dollar traded lower against international currencies.
Rupee strengthened 26 paisa to 63.76 against one U.S. dollar.
The Sensex Index decreased 57.95 to close at 27,506.71. The CNX Nifty fell 15.60 to 8,319.

AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited surged 15.6% to ₹988.55 after the biopharmaceutical products maker said net in the fourth-quarter swung to profit of ₹38.13 crore.
Total revenues in the quarter climbed 31.2% to ₹169.90 crore.
Bajaj Electricals Limited increased 1.9% to ₹269.05 after the kitchen and domestic appliances maker said net in the fourth-quarter swung to profit of ₹46.89 crore compared to a loss of ₹10.65 crore in the same period last year.
Total revenues in the quarter gained 3.2% to ₹1,320.96 crore.
Bata India Limited fell 0.4% to ₹1033.50 after the largest footwear retailer said profit in the fourth-quarter soared 48.3% to ₹58.44 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter advanced 6.2% to ₹533.83 crore.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited jumped 3.3% to ₹823 after the central government controlled oil marketing company said net in the fourth-quarter declined 29.9% to ₹2,852.89 crore.
Net revenues in the quarter tumbled 30.9% to ₹51,928.12 crore.
Gammon Infrastructure Projects Limited soared 13.1% to ₹12.61 after the infrastructure developer said that the Reserve Bank of India lifted foreign investor limit to 49% from the current 24%.
Godrej Industries Limited climbed 3.9% to ₹377.65 after the consumer goods maker said net in the fourth-quarter soared 21.6% to ₹138.96 crore.
Total revenues in the quarter climbed 16.9% to ₹2,432.63 crore.
Hindalco Industries Limited decreased 1.6% to ₹132 after the largest aluminium and copper producer said net in the fourth-quarter tumbled 35.7% to ₹159.53 crore.
Total revenues in the quarter climbed 11% to ₹9,601.63 crore.
Jindal Steel & Power Limited declined 7.1% to ₹120.10 after the steel producer said net income in the fourth-quarter swung to a loss of ₹519.30 crore compared to a loss of ₹402.50 crore.
Total revenues in the quarter slipped 10.4% to ₹4,586.42 crore.
Kanoria Chemicals & Industries Limited dropped 8.7% to ₹38.85 after the chemical products maker said net in the fourth-quarter tumbled 19% to ₹6.66 crore.
