Rupee at New Low in India; RPower, IDBI, Tech Mahindra in Focus

RPower said net in the quarter rose 3%. GAIL net tumbled 48%. BHEL net surged more than three-fold and revenues soared doubled. IDBI Bank net advanced 5% on 19% increase in revenues. Tech Mahindra net and revenues declined. United Spirits net loss narrowed.

[R]6:00 PM Mumbai – RPower said net in the quarter rose 3%. GAIL net tumbled 48%. BHEL net surged more than three-fold and revenues soared doubled. IDBI Bank net advanced 5% on 19% increase in revenues. Tech Mahindra net and revenues declined. United Spirits net loss narrowed.

Stocks in Mumbai advanced and investors reacted to corporate earnings but rupee continued to slide on the rising prices of crude oil in international markets.

Rupee weakened 5 paisa to 64.03 against one U.S. dollar.

The Sensex Index increased 33.25 to close at 27,564.66. The CNX Nifty slid 4.75 to 8,334.60.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited advanced 1.5% to ₹244.55 after the power generation equipment maker said net in the fourth-quarter surged 317.9% to ₹888.35 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter soared 104.7% to ₹12,686.03 crore.

GAIL (India) Limited decreased 1.8% to ₹381.15 after the natural gas producer said net in the fourth-quarter tumbled 47.5% to ₹510.75 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter fell 2.9% to ₹14,529.95 crore.

Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited gained 2.9% to ₹169.25 after the caustic soda maker said net in the fourth-quarter surged 48.8% to ₹96.31 crore.

IDBI Bank Limited climbed 5.8% to ₹70.65 after the financial services provider said net in the fourth-quarter rose 5% to ₹546 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter soared 19.3% to ₹9,382.37 crore.

The bank added gross non-performing asset in the quarter increased to 5.88% compared to 4.9% in the same period a year ago.

Max India Limited jumped 3.1% to ₹480.20 after the insurance services provider said net in the fourth-quarter climbed 35.5% to ₹84 crore.

National Fertilizers Limited plunged 6.9% to ₹28.70 after the urea producer said net loss in the fourth-quarter widened ₹100.57 crore compared to ₹9.8 crore in the same period a year ago.

Net sales declined 20.9% to ₹1,563.61 crore.

Reliance Power Limited rose 1% to ₹54.10 after the power generation company said net in the fourth-quarter increased 2.8% to ₹276.47 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter climbed 20.1% to ₹1,680.77 crore.

Tech Mahindra Limited plunged 13.7% to ₹552.65 after the information technology services provide said net in the fourth-quarter declined 23.1% to ₹472.01 crore.

Net sales in the quarter dropped 20.9% to ₹6,116.79 crore.

TTK Prestige Limited declined 5.7% to ₹3,701 after the pressure cookers maker said net in the fourth-quarter plunged 62.8% to ₹9.76 crore.

Total revenues in the quarter increased 5% to ₹287.24 crore.

United Spirits Limited slipped 2.5% to ₹3,526 after the beverage alcohol products maker said net loss in the fourth-quarter narrowed to ₹1,799.28 crore compared to ₹5,380.10 crore in the same quarter last year.

Net revenues in the quarter jumped 10.9% to ₹2,125.68 crore.
