Tata and TVS Auto Sales Rise, Bajaj Sales Falls

Bajaj Auto December sales slid 3%. BHEL won contract worth Rs 3,810 crore in Telangana. RPower completed its sixth and last 660 megawatt unit at Sasan. Tata Motors commercial and passenger vehicles sales advanced 10%.TVS Motor sales climbed 20%.

Indian rupee gained slightly to close at 63.29 against one dollar.

The Sensex Index climbed 380.36 or 1.4% to close at 27,887.90. The CNX Nifty jumped 111.45 or 1.4% to 8,395.45.

Gainers & Losers

Bajaj Auto Limited fell 0.02% to Rs 2453.50 after the second largest two-wheeler maker said total sales in December slid 3% to 289,244 units compared to 297,776 units in the same period last year.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited jumped 2.7% to Rs 275.40 after the power generation equipment maker won a contract worth Rs 3,810 crore in Telangana.

Bharat Forge Limited rose 0.6% to Rs 944.10 after the conglomerate’s German subsidiary acquired 100% stake of Mecanique Generale Langroise.

Reliance Power Limited advanced 1.3% to Rs 63.20 after the power producer completed its sixth and last 660 megawatt unit at Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant.

Tata Motors Limited jumped 2.7% to Rs 511.70 after the truck and motor vehicle maker said December total sales of commercial and passenger vehicles advanced 10% to 41,734 units from a yea ago period.

Domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles rose 8% to 37,776 units and exports soared 40% to 3,958 units from a year ago period.

TVS Motor Company Limited declined 3.3% to Rs 267.80 after the two-wheeler maker reported December total sales climbed 20% to 191,880 units compared to 159,495 units a year ago period.

Total two wheeler sales jumped 19% to 181,994 units and domestic two-wheeler sales climbed 19% to 157,438 units from a year ago period.

The company’s exports sale soared 28% to 32,969 units from same period last year.
