The Sensex Index fell 68.26 or 0.2% to close at 27,940.64. The CNX Nifty dropped 25.45 or 0.3% to 8,357.85.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited declined 5.2% to Rs 725.30 after the central government controlled oil marketing company said net in the second-quarter plummeted 50.1% to Rs 464.20 crore.
Total revenues nearly edged up 0.1% to Rs 62,280.28 crore.
Hindalco Industries Limited, the largest producer of aluminium and copper rose 0.2% to Rs 151.95 afternet in the second-quarter plunged 77.9% to Rs 78.77 crore.
Net revenues soared 33.3% to Rs 8,777.66 crore.
Max India Limited dropped 6.6% to Rs 407.70 and the insurance company reported net in the second-quarter swung to loss Rs 11.30 crore compared to a profit of Rs 1.99 crore a same period last year.
Net revenues plunged 93% to Rs 14.90 crore.
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited declined 4.1% to Rs 59.45 and the petroleum products supplier said net in the second-quarter swung to loss Rs 951.47 crore compared to a profit of Rs 235.77 crore a same period last year.
Net revenues dropped 14.3% to Rs 16,101.42 crore.
National Aluminium Company Limited, the largest integrated aluminium producer soared 3.7% to Rs 60.45 after net in the second-quarter surged 90.6% to Rs 341.52 crore.
Revenues climbed 16.3% to Rs 2,164.13 crore.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited slipped 1.7% to Rs 387 and the oil explorer reported net in the second-quarter advanced 9.6% to Rs 2,068 crore and revenues jumped 12.9% to Rs 11,362 crore.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited gained 0.3% to Rs 908.60 and the largest generic drug maker announced net in the second-quarter climbed 15% to Rs 1,572 crore.
Net sales jumped 13% to Rs 4,751 crore.
