Earnings Review

Atwood Oceanics, Inc ((ATW)) slipped 1.1% or 42 cents to $37.34 after the offshore drilling contractor reported revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in September climbed 10.4% to $323.4 million from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter soared 10.1% to $112.2 million or $1.72 a diluted share compared to $101.9 million or $1.57 from a same quarter last year.

CST Brands Inc ((CST)) fell 13 cents to $39.62 after the retailer of convenience goods and fuel said revenue in the third-quarter ending in September dropped 3% to $3.22 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter surged 50% to $63 million or 83 cents a diluted share compared to $42 million or 56 cents from a same quarter last year.

D.R. Horton, Inc ((DHI)) climbed 3.2% or 75 cents to $24.19 after the home builder reported net sales in the fourth-quarter ending in September soared 38% to $2.4 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter climbed 19% to $166.3 million or 45 cents a diluted share compared to $139.5 million or 40 cents from a same quarter last year.

MTS Systems Corporation ((MTSC)) rose 5 cents to $66.78 after the sensors and testing systems maker stated revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in September soared 38% to $143.1 million from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter tumbled 49% to $10.9 million or 71 cents a diluted share compared to $21.4 million or $1.36 from a same quarter last year.

Ophthotech Corp ((OPHT)) gained 1.5% or 61 cents to $41.74 after the biopharmaceutical company said revenue in the third-quarter ending in September was $39.6 million for the latest-quarter.

Net in the quarter swung to profit $10.9 million or 31 cents a diluted share compared to a loss of $18.4 million or $10.26 from a same quarter last year.

Rackspace Hosting, Inc ((RAX)) surged 11.3% or $4.22 to $41.54 after the cloud computing service provider reported net revenue in the third-quarter ending in September jumped 4.2% to $459.8 million from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter soared 14.6% to $25.7 million or 18 cents a diluted share compared to $16.3 million or 11 cents from a same quarter last year.

For the fourth quarter, the company forecasted total net revenue between $469 million and $476 million.

Woodward Inc ((WWD)) plunged 5.9% or $3.05 to $48.76 after the energy service provider said net sales in the in the fourth-quarter ending in September rose 1.2% to $565.4 million from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter dropped 1.5% to $51.7 million or 77 cents a diluted share compared to $52.5 million or 76 cents from a same quarter last year.
