AstraZeneca quarter net loss widened. Berger Paints net climbed 7%. Greaves Cotton net swung to profit. JSPL net fell 2%. HCC and L&T secured orders. Pidilite profit rose 17%. Thermax revenues increased 14% and net nearly tripled. Wockhardt revenues plunges.

The Sensex Index rose 55.50 or 0.2% to close at 27,915.88. The CNX Nifty increased 14.15 or 0.2% to 8,328.30.

Gainers & Losers

AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited plunged 4.5% to Rs 871.50 and the healthcare products maker said net loss in the second-quarter widened to Rs 27.96 crore from Rs 1.23 crore in the same period last year.

Net sales fell 0.9% to Rs 114.55 crore.

Berger Paints India Limited, the paint maker dropped 2.5% to Rs 383.80 after net in the second-quarter advanced 6.9% to Rs 67.03 crore and net sales soared 14.6% to Rs 1,102.31 crore.

Greaves Cotton Limited, the industrial equipment maker climbed 5.3% to Rs 139.40 after the company reported net in the second-quarter swung to profit Rs 20.30 crore compared to a net loss of Rs 8 crore in the year ago period.

Net revenues slid 1.6% to Rs 441 crore.

Hindustan Construction Company Limited, the government controlled construction services provider slid 0.7% to Rs 34.70 after the company won two contracts.

The company won a contract of Rs 454.89 crore from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway and second contract worth Rs 179.90 crore from Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation.

Jindal Steel & Power Limited tumbled 4.6% to Rs 162.40 and the steel producer said net in the second-quarter decreased 2.3% to Rs 441.83 crore and total revenue advanced 7.2% to Rs 5,183.18 crore.

Larsen & Toubro Limited, maker of engineering infrastructure rose 0.5% to Rs 1,667.15 after the company secured orders about Rs 1,576 crore from various business segments in October.

Pidilite Industries Limited, maker of adhesive and paint slipped 2.2% to Rs 401.15 after net in the second-quarter climbed 17% to Rs 138.90 crore and net sales advanced 14.1% to Rs 1,248.56 crore.

Thermax Limited surged 3.6% to Rs 945.05 after the thermal power plants maker said net in the second-quarter surged 185% to Rs 86 crore and total revenue jumped 14% to Rs 1,191 crore.

Wockhardt Limited, pharmaceutical company dropped 2.4% to Rs 752.20 after net in the second-quarter plunged 98% to Rs 86 crore and sales declined 14% to Rs 1,029 crore.
