The Sensex Index surged 519.20 or 1.9% to close at 27,865.83. The CNX Nifty jumped 153 or 1.9% to 8,322.20.
For the week, the Sensex climbed 3.8% and for the month soared 4.8% and the CNX Nifty soared 3.8% and for the month advanced 4.7%.
Gainers & Losers
Advanta Limited soared 10.6% to Rs 338.85 after the distributor of hybrid agricultural seeds said net in the third-quarter surged 981.1% to Rs 18.92 crore and revenue climbed 24.1% to Rs 386.59 crore.
Bharti Airtel Limited, the largest wireless carrier dropped 2.3% to Rs 398.30 after net in the second-quarter soared 170.2% to Rs 1,383 crore and total revenues jumped 7.1% to Rs 22,847 crore.
GAIL (India) Limited jumped 3.6% to Rs 528.95 after the natural gas producer reported net in the second-quarter surged 42.3% to Rs 1,302.90 crore and total revenues rose 1.4% to Rs 14,418.53 crore.
JK Lakshmi Cement Limited climbed 2.2% to Rs 367.55 after the cement maker said net in the second-quarter soared 197.2% to Rs 30.61 crore and revenues jumped 25.4% to Rs 573.77 crore.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, the automaker advanced 1.2% to Rs 1,303.40 after net in the second-quarter slid 4.3% to Rs 946.63 crore and net revenues increased 7.9% to Rs 10,029.19 crore.
NTPC Limited, the power distributor advanced 1.9% to Rs 149.95 after net in the second-quarter dropped 16.9% to Rs 2,071.63 crore and net revenues increased 1.1% to Rs 17,267.32 crore.
Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Limited added 1% to Rs 5,401.35 after the healthcare products maker said net in the second-quarter rose 12.2% to Rs 61.50 crore and revenue soared 16.1% to Rs 597.53 crore.
Union Bank of India Ltd, the central government controlled bank rose 0.6% to Rs 225.50 after net in the second-quarter climbed 78.4% to Rs 371.34 crore and revenue advanced 11.1% to Rs 8,754.69 crore.
Whirlpool of India Limited, the maker of household equipment jumped 4.3% to Rs 493.95 after net in the second-quarter surged 146.2% to Rs 40.72 crore and net revenue climbed 21.1% to Rs 744.57 crore.
