Aetna net and revenue climbed. Cummins net climbed 19%. Du Pont net surged 52%. Noble Energy jumped 104.4% but revenue declined 9%. Pfizer profit jumped 3% while revenue fell 2%. Parker Hannifin net climbed 15% and Whirlpool net soared 17%.

Earnings Review

Aetna Inc ((AET)) dropped 2.7% or $2.19 to $76.99 after the healthcare benefits company reported total revenue in the third-quarter ending in September climbed 13% to $14.73 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter soared 15% to $594.5 million or $1.67 a diluted share compared to $518.6 million or $1.38 from a same quarter last year.

Cummins Inc ((CMI)) soared 5.9% or $8.03 to $143.40 after the diesel engines maker reported revenue in the third-quarter ending in September jumped 15% to $4.89 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter climbed 19.1% to $423 million or $2.32 a diluted share compared to $355 million or $1.90 from a same quarter last year.

E I Du Pont De Nemours And Co ((DD)) fell 32 cents to $67.55 after the chemical maker said sales in the third-quarter ending in September dropped 3% to $7.51 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter surged 51.9% to $433 million or 47 cents a diluted share compared to $285 million or 30 cents from a same quarter last year.

Freeport-McMoRan Inc ((FCX)) declined 5.1% or $1.55 to $28.74 after the mining company stated revenue in the third-quarter ending in September plunged 7.5% to $5.70 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter tumbled 32.7% to $552 million or 53 cents a diluted share compared to $821 million or 79 cents from a same quarter last year.

Noble Energy, Inc ((NBL)) gained 41 cents to $56.79 after the oil and gas explorer said total revenue in the third-quarter ending in September plummeted 8.6% to $1.27 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter jumped 104.4% to $419 million or $1.12 a diluted share compared to $205 million or 56 cents from a same quarter last year.

Pfizer Inc ((PFE)) slid 9 cents to $28.94 after the research-based biopharmaceutical company reported revenue in the third-quarter ending in September fell 2% to $12.36 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter jumped 3% to $2.7 billion or 42 cents a diluted share compared to $2.6 billion or 39 cents from a same quarter last year.

Parker Hannifin Corporation ((PH)) climbed 4.5% or $5.23 to $122.47 after the diversified industrial machinery maker said sales in the first-quarter ending in September rose 1.2% to $3.27 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter climbed 15% to $280.2 million or $1.85 a diluted share compared to $244.3 million or $1.61 from a same quarter last year.

TD Ameritrade Holding Corp ((AMTD)) jumped 2.4% or 75 cents to $32.06 after the brokerage service provider stated net revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in September soared 12.1% to $795 million from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter rose 5.5% to $211 million or 38 cents a diluted share compared to $200 million or 36 cents from a same quarter last year.

Whirlpool Corporation ((WHR)) surged 7.2% or $11.38 to $168.78 after the home appliances maker said net sales in the third-quarter ending in September increased 2.1% to $4.82 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter soared 17.3% to $230 million or $2.88 a diluted share compared to $196 million or $2.42 from a same quarter last year.
