The Sensex Index jumped 151.84 or 0.6% to close at 27,019.39 The CNX Nifty advanced 55.35 to 8,083.05.
Gainers & Losers
Bajaj Auto Ltd slid 0.2% to Rs 2,258.15 after the company said total sales in August climbed 8% from a year ago month to 3,36,840 units and motorcycles sales rose 2% to 284,302 units.
Sale of commercial vehicles surged 56% to 52,538 from 33,605 units a year ago. In the six month period to August sales of motorcycles jumped 3% to 14,27,001 units.
Total exports soared 21% to 1,75,127 units from 1,44,160 units a year earlier and vehicles maker estimated September sales at 4,00,000 units.
Ballarpur Industries Ltd surged 12.1% to Rs 17.60 after net profit in the first-quarter declined 94.8% to Rs 1.12 crore on flat revenues of Rs 1,198.30 crore.
Hero Motocorp Ltd gained 1.5% to Rs 2,801.65 after the motorcycles maker reported total sales in August surged 21% to 5,58,609 units from a year ago month.
SPML Infra Ltd climbed 5% to Rs 65.10 after the company secured new orders worth Rs 1,232.30 crore from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam.
S Mobility Ltd jumped 1.5% to Rs 27.40 after the company reported net in the first-quarter swung to a loss of Rs 18.62 crore compared to profit of Rs 9.91 crore and sales surged 21.5% to Rs 541.17 crore.
Tata Motors Limited slipped 0.7% to Rs 516.40 after the company’s total sales in August plunged 18% to 40,883 units and domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles tumbled 19% to 36,403 units from a year ago month.
Sales of passenger vehicles dropped 5% to 10,975 units and passenger cars fell 6% to 8,229 units and utility vehicles sales slipped 2% to 2,746 units. Light commercial vehicles sales plummeted 35% to 16,287 units.
Exports in August declined 8% to 4,480 units.
The company received an order to supply 487 units to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and 780 units from Himachal Road Transport Corporation.
The orders received are as a part of about 2,700 buses for Tata Motors ''URBAN'' buses under JnNURM - II scheme.
TVS Motor Company Limited climbed 4.1% to Rs 201.30 after the motorcycles and tempo maker said total sales soared 46% to 227,482 units,Domestic two wheeler sales surged 50% to 190,547 units.
Sales of auto-rickshaw soared 39% to 9,820 units.
Total exports in August climbed 28% to 35,074 units and export of two wheeler jumped 27% to 27,115 units.
