Dabur and Hindustan Unilever Profit Surge

Ashok Leyland net loss narrowed. Bank of Baroda net climbed 17%. Dabur revenue and profit surged 13%. Hindustan Unilever net jumped 4%. Havells India net soared 13%. Mastek signed a major contract with British Telecom. UPL net declined 26%.

The Sensex Index slipped 135.52 or 0.5% to close at 25,991.23 The CNX Nifty dropped 41.75 to 7,748.70.

Gainers & Losers

Ashok Leyland Ltd dropped 1.6% to Rs 32.75 after the commercial vehicles maker reported net loss in the first-quarter narrowed to Rs 47.95 crore from Rs 141.75 crore a year ago and revenue climbed 5.2% to Rs 2,500.92 crore.

Bank of Baroda rose 0.5% to Rs 866.10 after net profit in the first-quarter climbed 16.6% to Rs 1,361.88 crore and total revenue climbed 9% to Rs 11,682.50 crore.

Dabur India fell 0.6% to Rs 198.05 after net profit in the first-quarter surged 13.3% to Rs 210.81 crore and total revenue jumped 13.01% to Rs 1,904.80 crore.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd climbed 3.7% to Rs 686.45 after net profit in the first-quarter jumped 3.7% to Rs 1,056.85 crore and total revenue soared 13.3% to Rs 7,918.45 crore.

Havells India Ltd slumped 2.2% to Rs 1,210 after net profit in the first-quarter soared 13.3% to Rs 107.27 crore and total sales surged 22.2% to Rs 1,288.41 crore.

Mastek Ltd jumped 3.4% to Rs 194.90 after the company’s UK-based subsidiary signed a contract with British Telecom.

Sintex Industries Ltd gained 1.7% to Rs 87.95 after the company’s subsidiary acquired France-based Simonin Group in an all cash deal for €18 million or $24.2 million.

UPL Ltd slipped 1.1% to Rs 310.80 after net profit in the first-quarter declined 25.9% to Rs 106.81 crore and revenues jumped 3.9% to Rs 1,360.44 crore.
