The Sensex Index gained 102.57 or 0.4% to close at 25,516.35 The CNX Nifty rose 23.35 to 7,634.70.

Gainers & Losers

Ashok Leyland Ltd slipped 1.1% to Rs 36.35 after the vehicle maker said June total sales jumped 7% to 7,452 units compared to 6,970 units a year ago month.

The company added total sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicle soared 17% to 5,542 units while total sales of light commercial vehicles declined 15% to 1,910 units.

A2Z Maintenance and Engineering Services Ltd climbed 5% to Rs 19.95 after the company secured orders worth Rs 2400 crore for EPC works on various projects.

Bajaj Auto Ltd gained 0.9% to Rs 2,351.45 after the company said total vehicle sales in June rose 3% to 3,05,465 units from 2,95,749 units a year ago month.

Bajaj said total motorcycle sales grew 3% 262,202 units and total commercial vehicles sales jumped 5% to 43,263 units. Total exports climbed 12% to 135,074 units compared to 120,399 units a year earlier.

Castrol India Limited surged 8.9% to Rs 361.20 on rumors that the parent company Castrol Plc is exploring options to de-list its India subsidiary by year-end.

IFCI Limited rose 0.1% to Rs 41.65 after the company said it acquired 49% stake in Rajasthan Consultancy Organisation from Hardicon for an undisclosed amount.

Mphasis Ltd climbed 3.6% to Rs 434.80 on media reports that the U.S. parent Hewlett-Packard has revived plans to sell its stake in the company.

Tata Motors Limited increased 0.9% to Rs 455 after the company''s total vehicle sales in June plunged 27% to 38,557 units.

The company said total domestic sales tumbled 29% to 34,743 units and total commercial vehicles sales declined 27% to 26,832 units.

Total passenger vehicles sales plummeted 33% to 7,911 units and total exports dropped 5% to 3,814 units.
