Europe Earnings: Charles Stanley, Man Group, L'Oreal, Rolls-Royce

Balfour Beatty secured a

In London trading, FTSE 100 index increased 0.8% or 53.16 to 6,831.72 and in Frankfurt the DAX index jumped 0.8% or 82.70 to 10,013.03.

In Paris, CAC 40 index climbed 0.9% or 42.25 to 4,572.62.

Balfour Beatty Plc increased 0.3% to 236.80 pence after the U.K.-based infrastructure developer secured a contract to upgrade a 17-mile stretch of M60 and M62 highway to a ''smart motorway'' worth £184 million.

Charles Stanley Group Plc slid 0.2% to 423.29 pence after the U.K.-based investment company said revenue in the year ending in March climbed 17% to £149 million from £127.6 million a year ago.

Profit in the year declined 29.5% to £4.76 million compared to £6.75 million and diluted earnings per share dropped to 10.42 pence from 14.87 pence a year earlier.

Man Group Plc jumped 6.2% to 105.30 pence after the U.K.-based alternative investment manager signed conditional agreement to acquire the U.S.-based privately-owned Numeric Holdings LLC for as much as $494 million.

L''Oreal SA gained 0.8% to €128.50 after the France-based cosmetic group agreed to acquire the U.S.-based NYX Cosmetics for an undisclosed price.

Rolls-Royce Holding Plc climbed 6.9% to 1,080 pence after the U.K.-based civil, defense aerospace, marine and energy parts maker intends to buy back £1 billion or $1.7 billion in stocks after it plans to sell its energy assets to Siemens AG for $1.3 billion.

Sports Direct International Plc rose 0.5% to 760.50 pence after the U.K.-based sports and leisure clothing, footwear and equipment retailer agreed to buy a 4.8%strategic stake in Australia-based online retailer MySale.
