The Sensex Index fell 52.76 or 0.2% to close at 24,805.83 The CNX Nifty slid 13.60 to 7,402.25.

Gainers & Losers

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd increased 1.3% to Rs 2,373.20 after the company said total production in May jumped 20.1% to 121,746 units compared to 101,360 units for May 2013.

National Fertilizers Limited jumped 9.9% to Rs 44.90 after the company said net loss in the fourth-quarter narrowed to Rs 9.8 crore from Rs 107.04 crore and net sale surged 72.8% to Rs 1,985 crore compared to Rs 1,149 crore a year ago.

Orbit Corporation Limited surged 8.4% to Rs 25.15 after Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore PTE acquired 12,40,000 shares at Rs 22.25 or 1.09% stake in the company through block deal.

Reliance Industries Limited declined 1.5% to Rs 1,077.90 after the company reported a fire accident at its poly butadiene rubber plant in Vadodara.

Sequent Scientific Limited climbed 10% to Rs 304.90 after several foreign institutional investors acquired over 1.2 million shares in the pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals company.

Trent Ltd gained 0.8% to Rs 1,051.25 after the company said UK-based Tesco completed the purchase of a stake in its wholly-owned subsidiary Trent Hypermarkets.

Tata Steel Limited jumped 2.1% to Rs 536.60 after the steel producer received mining lease renewal from the Odisha government.
