Abercrombie, Palo Alto, Sanderson Farms Jump; Tech Data Drops

Abercrombie net loss widened after sales fell. Costco net rose 3% and sales climbed 7%. Chico''s profit jumped 6%. Palo Alto net loss widened but revenue soared 49%. Pall net surged 21%. Sanderson Farms profit climbed 14%. Tech Data net plunged 24%.

Abercrombie & Fitch Co ((ANF)) climbed 4.4% or $1.57 to $36.69 after the specialty retailer said net sales in the first-quarter ending on May 4 fell 2% to $822.4 million. Comparable sales in the quarter slid 1%.

Net loss in the quarter widened to $23.7 million or 32 cents a diluted share compared to $7.2 million or 9 cents.

Costco Wholesale Corporation ((COST)) gained 27 cents to $114.50 after the wholesale club operator reported net sales in the third-quarter ending on May 11 climbed 7.2% to $25.2 billion. Comparable sales in the quarter jumped 4%.

Net income in the quarter rose 3% to $473 million or $1.07 a diluted share compared to $459 million or $1.04.

Chico''s FAS, Inc ((CHS)) slid 3 cents to $15.11 after the women''s apparel retailers said net sales in the first-quarter ending on May 3 rose 1.6% to $681.6 million. Comparable sales in the quarter fell 2.6%.

Net income in the quarter jumped 5.9% to $39.9 million or 26 cents a diluted share compared to profit of $51.1 million or 31 cents.

Palo Alto Networks Inc ((PANW)) surged 8.6% or $5.99 to $75.50 after the network security platform provider said total revenue in the third-quarter ending in April soared 49% to $150.7 million.

Net loss in the quarter widened to $139.1 million or $1.86 a diluted share compared to $7.3 million or 10 cents.

Pall Corporation ((PLL)) slipped 81 cents to $85.96 after the filtration equipment provider stated sales in the third-quarter ending in April jumped 6% to $682.4 million.

Net earnings in the quarter surged 21.5% to $88.7 million or 80 cents a diluted share compared to $73 million or 65 cents.

Sanderson Farms, Inc ((SAFM)) jumped 2.6% to $2.13 to $89.79 after the poultry processing company stated net sales in the second-quarter ending in April increased 6.3% to $660.7 million.

Net income in the quarter climbed 14.3% to $51 million or $2.21 a diluted share compared to $24.4 million or $1.06.

Tech Data Corp ((TECD)) declined 3.9% or $2.48 to $60.46 after the technology products wholesaler reported total revenue in the first-quarter ending in April climbed 9% to $6.73 billion.

Net income in the quarter plunged 24.1% to $13.5 million or 35 cents a diluted share compared to $17.8 million or 47 cents.
