Bouygues net swung to profit
[R]4:00 PM Frankfurt – Bouygues net swung to profit €285 million after revenue rose. Centamin profit plunged 70% and revenue tumbled 26%. Intertek total revenue declined by 4.9%. Kentz received new orders worth $1.8 billion. Moncler net jumped 16% to €24 million.[/R]
In London trading, FTSE 100 index slid 0.01% or 0.70 to 6,840.19 and in Frankfurt the DAX index fell 0.4% or 40.45 to 9,615.60.
In Paris, CAC 40 index edged up 0.06% or 2.51 to 4,447.44.
Bouygues SA climbed 4.1% to €32.98 after the France-based telecommunications, media and construction group reported revenue in the first-quarter ending in March increased 3% to €6.84 billion from €6.64 billion a year ago.
Net in the quarter swung to profit €285 million compared to a loss of €42 million and diluted earnings per share flat at €0.40 from a year earlier.
Centamin Plc fell 0.9% to 61.20 pence after the U.K.-based precious and base metals producer said revenue in the first-quarter ending in March tumbled 26% to $102.7 million from $138.2 million a year ago.
Profit in the quarter plunged 70% to $20.6 million compared to $68.8 million and diluted earnings per share dropped to $1.85 from $6.59 a year earlier.
Intertek Group Plc declined 3.4% to 2,985 pence after the U.K.-based quality and safety solution provider stated total revenue in the period ending in April increased 3.6% while on currencies and at actual exchange rates total revenue declined by 4.9%.
Kentz Corporation Limited dropped 2.8% to 669.36 pence after the U.K.-based engineering and construction group said new order-intake was $1.8 billion while prospect pipeline jumped 18.9% to $16.3 billion from $13.7 billion a year ago.
The group said backlog at the end of April climbed 60.7% to $4.5 billion compared to $2.8 billion a year earlier.
Moncler SpA surged 6.4% to €12.77 after the Italy-based fashion company said revenues in the first-quarter ending in March climbed 15.8% to €145.4 million from €125.6 million a year ago period.
Net income in the quarter jumped 16.1% to €23.5 million compared to €16.4 million a year earlier.
