The Sensex Index climbed 216.14 or 0.9% to close at 24,121.74 The CNX Nifty jumped 79.85 to 7,203. For the week, Sensex surged 4.9%.

Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd rose 0.3% to Rs 18.65 after the company reported a net in the fourth-quarter swung to a loss Rs 423.90 crore compared to profit of Rs 1.95 crore and sales rose 2.9% to Rs 1,324.85 crore.
Cadila Healthcare Limited dropped 3% to Rs 912 after net profit in the fourth-quarter slumped 8.7% to Rs 239.19 crore and net sales soared 22.4% to Rs 1,916.33 crore.
For the year, net profit rose 22.9% to Rs 803.59 crore and net sales jumped 14.7% to Rs 7,060.07 crore.
Gujarat Gas Company Limited slumped 4.8% to Rs 375.30 after net profit in the first-quarter declined 16.9% to Rs 49.27 crore and revenue edged up 0.5% to Rs 772.08 crore.
Himatsingka Seide Limited plummeted 5.6% to Rs 59.50 after net profit in the fourth-quarter tumbled 48.6% to Rs 11.53 crore and total revenue surged 25.1% to Rs 498.73 crore.
Karnataka Bank Limited climbed 6% to Rs 133.55 after net profit in the fourth-quarter surged 20.5% to Rs 81.21 crore and total revenues jumped 7.5% to Rs 1,172.58 crore.
At the end of fiscal year in March, ratio of gross non-performing assets to gross advances jumped to 2.92% from 2.51% a year ago.
Kalindee Rail Nirman (Engineers) Ltd surged 17.7% to Rs 93.55 after the company reported net in the fourth-quarter swung to profit Rs 12.65 crore compared to a net loss of Rs 1.29 crore and net sales soared 59.3% to Rs 100.09 crore.
Mirc Electronics Limited declined 4% to Rs 5.50 after the company reported a net in the fourth-quarter swung to a loss Rs 6.55 crore compared to profit of Rs 12.20 crore and sales declined 8.4% to Rs 310.45 crore.
NTPC Limited jumped 2% to Rs 131.85 after net profit in the fourth-quarter plunged 29.4% to Rs 3,093.54 crore and total revenue climbed 18.6% to Rs 21,637.87 crore.
For the year, net profit declined 13.03% to Rs 10,974.74 crore and total revenue jumped 8.5% to Rs 74,707.82 crore.
Sterling Biotech Limited plunged 4.9% to Rs 13.77 after the company said net loss in the first-quarter widened to Rs 103.32 crore from Rs 96.10 crore and revenues dropped 8.8% to Rs 188.83 crore.
