    Gati surged after Japan-based Kintetsu World acquired 5% stake. Kalpataru Power secured new orders aggregating to more than Rs 700 crore. KEC Intl sold 7.3 acres of land to Tata Housing. Maruti sales in March dropped 6% and for the year fell 1%. M&M tractor sales in March rose 2%.

The Sensex Index jumped 59.41 or 0.3% to close at 22,445.68. The CNX Nifty gained 16.85 to close at 6,721.05.

Gainers & Losers

Gati Limited surged 12.3% to Rs 91 after the company said Japan-based logistics company Kintetsu World Express acquired 5% stake in the company.

Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited jumped 2.2% to Rs 97.75 after the power producer secured new orders aggregating to more than Rs700 crore.

KEC International Ltd gained 1.5% to Rs 68.75 after the company sold 7.3 acres of land in Thane district to Ardent Properties, a subsidiary of Tata Housing Development Co Ltd for Rs. 211.70 crore.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd slipped 2% to Rs 1,931.15 after the company said total vehicle sales in March dropped 5.5% to 1,13,000 units in March.

The automaker added total exports in March declined 8% to 11,081 units and total domestic sales slumped 5.2% to 1,02,000 units.

For the year to March, the company''s total vehicle sales fell 1.4% to 11,55,000 units, total domestic sales rose 0.3% to 10,53,000 units and total exports fell 15.8% to 1,01,000 units.

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited gained 1.8% to Rs 998.05 after total tractor sales in March rose 2% to 17,673 units.

Total domestic tractor sales climbed 7% to 16,571 units and exports tumbled 38% to 1,102 units.

For the year to March, the company said total tractor sales jumped 20% to 2,67,000 units

TVS Motor Company Limited fell 0.7% to Rs 96.70 after the company said sales in March soared 16% to 1,88,000 units.

The company added sales from motorcycles segment climbed 10% to 68,158 units in March and exports surged 28% to 29,944 units.

UPL Ltd climbed 4.7% to Rs 192.80 after the company sold its entire 50% stake in the Brazil-based agrochemical company Sipcam UPL.
