The Sensex Index increased 86.55 or 0.4% to close at 21,337.67. The CNX Nifty rose 25.15 to close at 6,338.95.
Gainers & Losers
Ashok Leyland Limited jumped 2.7% to Rs 17.25 after the company said third-quarter net swung to a loss of Rs 167.20 crore compared to a profit of Rs 74.14 crore.
Total sales in the quarter plummeted 18.67% to Rs 1,968.62 crore compared to Rs 2,420.46 crore in the same period last year.
Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited gained 0.7% to Rs 1,320.15 after third-quarter net rose 1.6% to Rs 112.83 crore and total sales climbed 14% to Rs 907.35 crore.
The personal care products maker said advertisement expenditure in the quarter jumped 21.6% to Rs 121.46 crore and operating profit margin declined to 16.9%.
Dabur India Limited declined 4% to Rs 160.85 after net profit in the third-quarter climbed 15% to Rs.242.88 crore and net sales soared 16.8% to Rs 1,943.23 crore.
Housing Development Finance Corporation rose 0.4% to Rs 841.50 after net profit in the third-quarter jumped 12.1% to Rs 1,277.71 crore and total revenue increased 14.9% sto Rs 6,030.93 crore.
Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited fell 4.9% to Rs 253.95 after net profit in the third-quarter plunged 15.6% to Rs 182.36 crore and total revenue surged 28.4% to Rs 1,363.20 crore.
Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd climbed 6.8% to Rs 507.85 after net profit in the third-quarter surged 41.1% to Rs 158 crore and net sales climbed 28.9% to Rs 990 crore.
The company added domestic formulation business revenues jumped 15% to Rs 297 crore and international revenues soared 41% to 637 crore.
Thermax Limited slipped 2.5% to Rs 650 after net profit in the third-quarter declined 12.7% to Rs 66.64 crore and revenue slid 2.1% to Rs 1,036.68 crore.
Thermax said new orders in the quarter increased 6.3% to Rs 1,365 crore and order backlog jumped 24% to Rs 6,445 crore from a year ago.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited gained 1% to Rs 284.45 after net profit in the third-quarter jumped 10% to Rs 213.59 crore and total revenue climbed 25.8% to Rs 1,226.40 crore.
The broadcasting company said advertising revenue in the quarter soared 34.3% to Rs 684.30 crore and subscription revenue jumped 11.4% to Rs 456.50 crore.
Zensar Technologies Limited plunged 6.2% to Rs 386.95 after net profit in the third-quarter tumbled 28.2% to Rs 50.71 crore and revenue dropped 4.5% to Rs 588.38 crore.
