The Sensex Index fell 16.01 to close at 20,713.37. The CNX Nifty slid 6.25 to close at 6,168.35.

Gainers & Losers

GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd soared 5.4% to Rs 9.94 and the company will inaugurate the new terminal-II at the Mumbai international airport on January 10.

Hindustan Motors Limited declined 1.6% to Rs 8.18 and the auto maker plans to divest its stake in Tiruvallur manufacturing plant near Chennai to raise Rs 150 crore.

Infosys Limited increased 0.6% to Rs 3,448.30 and the company expects net profit in the third-quarter to increase 11.6% to Rs 2,685.2 crore and revenues gain of 0.9% to Rs 13,076.8 crore.

NHPC Limited declined 1.9% to Rs 18.60 and the company signed memorandum of understanding with Government of Kerala to develop wind power project.

Suven Life Sciences Limited surged 3.2% to Rs 77.50 after the company secured three product patents one each in Australia, Sri Lanka and South Korea for the neurodegenerative diseases.

Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited rose 0.02% to Rs 474.10 after the company signed product licensing agreement with EPIRUS Switzerland GmbH.

Tata Steel Limited slid 0.3% to Rs 390.90 and won two-year contract to supply more than 2,00,000 tons of track to French rail operator SNCF.
