Balfour Beatty won a

In London trading, FTSE 100 index gained 0.3% or 18.35 to 6,749 and in Frankfurt the DAX index rose 0.3% or 28.79 to 9,464.

In Paris, CAC 40 index edged up 0.1% or 3.79 to 4,251.

Balfour Beatty Plc rose 0.9% to 292.80 pence after the U.K-based infrastructure developer won a £154 million contract to carry out the transformation of the London 2012 Olympic Stadium.

Centamin Plc climbed 4.3% to 47.14 pence after the U.K-based precious and base metals producer said total gold production in the fourth-quarter jumped 7% to 91,546 ounces and for the year production to surged 36% to 356,943 ounces.

Legal & General Group Plc gained 1.1% to 225.20 pence after the report U.K-based agreed to sell its office building in London to Orchard Street Investment Management LLP for about £85 million.

RSA Insurance Group Plc surged 7.6% to 99.11 pence after the report U.K-based insurer had isolated capital shortage and expects no further write-downs. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP report is scheduled to be released on January 9 and may find errors in the Irish business despite strict group governance controls.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc slid 0.3% to 2,152.50 pence after the report Netherlands-based plan to sell its remaining stake of 23.1% for about $7.4 billion in Australia based Woodside Petroleum Limited.

The company also agreed to acquire liquefied natural gas assets of rival Repsol in Trinidad, Peru and Spain.
